Help! Update transmission leak

So I posted yesterday about my stripped transmission pan bolts and the leak. I got started today and when I got everything apart it looked like the tranny filter was loose. Should the bolt that holds up the filter hold it in place snugly? I have a 1975 with a TH400 transmission. Thanks for any input.

Bolt that holds filter on gets tightened snug. Filter itself will move up and down as per chevys design.

I guess I worded my question wrong, I was'nt sure why the filter had play in it but you answered my question. Thanks.

What a freakin' pair, you're a fortunate guy. And the paint job on that 'Vette is TOO TOUGH. And up there in the colder climate where beautifully painted rides are kept in during the winter months. I know, I grew up in New York and keeping the paint in good condition, especially on a dark colored job, is a chore or consists of keeping the ride in the garage unless the weather is cooperating, about three months a year. It's actually an easy task out here in Central Texas.
