urgent: do I still want closed-port intake gaskets?

My mechanic is faced with the question of which intake gaskets to install: ones with closed rear coolant port (good FelPro) or ones with open port (Mr. Gasket).

I know that stock engines have the port blocked on the gasket (except for a steam hole). However, with aftermarket heads and a SuperRam plenum (with coolant line to the rear of the plenum), do I need the open port?
