vaccum override under column, whats it for and do? it has 2 hoses on it, one goes to the headlight switch so im assuming that it has somthing to do with the head lights (duh) and the other i dont know yet i havent tracked it down. but my next question is can you get rid of the vaccum overrid (is what ecklers is calling it i think) and just hook that hose that was on it to the head light switch. if not please tell me why.

One hose comes from the headlight switch to the over ride. The other goes from the over ride to the headlights.

The over ride allows you to open and close the headlights without turning them on.

You could just splice the two together but why would you want to?

The overide is good to use when washing the car....also for some reason the car is out in a cold day and Ice forms, the headlights are already up.......other wise you might have to wait for daylight for them to warm up so you can use them....

It's also nice to have a backup in case the vacuum switch on the headlights fails. I would leave it there, just in case.
If you have never used it, just pull out the knob(down) and the headlights will open. With the engine running, and sometimes without if the system holds vacuum well enough.
