At the risk of posting three times in a row...

I'd love to know more about that vette. It did not have a rear spoiler like the ALMS vettes, so I wonder if that was a stock vette. In addition, it did not have the rear vent for the rear brakes so I wonder if it was even a Z06.

Yeah, definitely a coupe and not a Z06. In fact, judging by the non-chrome tailpipes, it would a 2000 or earlier coupe...

I got to drive a Winston Cup car at Texas Motor Speedway... problem is they had it set to stay under 175 mph. Still was a lot of fun though.

That sounds cool! A few members of our club [Mid Alabama Corvette Club] got to take a few turns around Talladega in our Vettes recently. Although the pace trucks held us to between 85-100mph, it was still a blast-- felt like we were driving on the side of a building in the turns! We hope to go again in the spring; maybe they'll let us go a little faster then... Anyway, I made a short little video of the event. It's still just a rough cut, but if anyone wants to laugh at my goofy ass :D at the end of the video, check out:

fhturner...

I also had the opportunity to race the my vette a few months ago on the inside road course at TMS (@1 - 1.5 miles long). It only had one real straight and lot's of turns I was in a group of 10 vettes...mostly C5's, one or two C4s. Not one these folks knew the old 78 was packing @350 hp with a brand new suspension. I got great video of it. My wife was in the passenger seat being THROWN around (bless her heart) but she has the whole thing captured on 8mm. Afterwards the guy ahead of me, during most of the video (C5), told me he was amazed that he could not shake me... they couldn't pass me, and I couldn't pass them. At the end of the race, my wife asks: "what's that smell?!!!"... I told her "it was the brake fluid boiling and what was left of the brakes". It was THAT much fun. It's a sweet video, would like to figure out how to post it!

Awesome video! Made in the USA and showing nothing but the taillights ;LOL

Thanks, Fred! I was able to use the first link. Nice video! The Vette was pretty much untouchable!

Thanks for help,
Kenny

Thanks Rob. Kicked butt in the staights! Too bad there was no camera in the Vette. It's always fun to watch objects get smaller in your rearview mirror. Keep up the good work... Jim
