I want to add a cut off switch or another device in the ignition circuit as a theft prevention measure. I have the inside of the car all torn out while I install insulation/sound deadener and thought this would be the ideal time to run any additional wires.

I've thought about putting the extra switch in the rear storage compartment.......either a simple toggle or a keyed switch.

Any suggestions?

I run my power lead to the HEI through my factory alarm switch in the fender. My alarm doesnt work anyway. I taped the wires up & mixed them in with the other harness so they cannot be seen. This system works real well. Not undefeatable but it would take someone a while to figure out what is going on. I see you have a 70 model, I am not familluar with the alarm system on those. The key is in the back pannel correct? Anyway thought I'd share my ideas with you. Have a good one.

I have a 70 vette, a previous owner had put a toggle switch underneath the passenger side dash. it cuts into the line from the battery to the starter. its pretty effective and rather hard to see.

I haven't put one in my vette yet, but I've done the same as woobie's car in my truck. I have a switch mounted under the passenger dash, behind the dash box, between the HVAC ducts. I have a hard time reaching it from the driver's seat. It cuts the line from the switch to the starter, and I think would be impossible to find as the wiring is all inside of factory wire loom.

Thanks for the input. For whatever reason I feel I just have to do something like this. I'll find the right place to splice in a switch and hide it like it's .......well you know.

Thanks again.

i install a "push to on,push to off" switch under the carpet up near the firewall and "push" it off and on with my foot.
