Now that I've changed computer systems entirely in my Vette, what do I do with the modified chips I no longer need? They're burned for my application, so that pretty much eliminates anybody else ever using them, eh? Or can they be re-burned to suit someone else's needs? For that matter, is it possible for the chips to be used "as is" for someone else's application?

I, most likely, am just out of luck, right? Money down the drain again. :eyerole

I like chips with a little dill pickle sour creme dip but salt and vinegar chips are my favorite.:J :J :J

hi ken most newer chips can be reflashed depending on the model most have a little window covered with tape you remove the tape and a certain light will clear the chip some are just a plain reflash with the new burn steve:w :crazy

Unfortunately for you Ken...the money is in the software or the programming in the chip. Using an ultraviolet light you can erase the programming so the chip can be reused. A blank chip is less then 10.00.....new.

Hey Ken!

Why don't you just post the mods you had, the ones the chips where created for?

Maybe someone here could need one? ;shrug

Ok, it's worth a shot!

If it is an EPROM it has to be erased then reprogrammed. If it is a EEPROM then you can electrically erase it and flash. I burn both for telephone systems every day. Once I get ahold of a chip it is easy to download and save the software imbedded on a chip so it can be reloaded if necessary.
