Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

what a pretty c3

Yep. They need to explain that one.

Nice '69 just the same.

:)

My cars odometer reads 24XXX, but if I remember right, he told me they turned it back to zero when they did the frame-off. I assumed they had to.
Anyone know if this is standard practice or not??

they replied to my email as well. actually twice the first time they requested more info, address, phone number:crazythe secound time the email had a 'lol'.

Well, these email replies seem to get more amusing by the day. I received another reply from apparently the owner of Speedway Motors, Patrick C. Dalton, and his reply is "go away". All I wanted to know was the actual mileage and why the asking price was so high. I was very tactful and civil. We are obviously on to something and they have no valid response.

He really should get a new ignition key made. :w Maybe there are a few other tell-tale age signs, such as old oil. I'd like to see under the dash also.

Well just a post on eBay is not legally binding.
The real question is what does the registration read.
My registry is listed as "Exempt: Surpassed mechanical limitations."
That is a problem i've seen with several older cars. I've seen 1966 Corvettes with 50k on the odometer and the seller believes is original, but can't prove it.

It is not illegal to zero an odometer AS LONG as you document it. There is a special tag you have to put on the car that states the mileage was reset at XXXX miles.

I'm not sending him any more emails. I've already had way too much fun...;LOL

You would think the seller should of specified that or maybe he is suppose to.

I dont even think that 69 would get 147 k EVEN at Barrett Jackson,no matter how many cocktails the bidders had.:beer

It says "Body Off Restor" why would you need one at only 18 miles??? I wouldn't buy a pair of socks from this guy. Can't beleive that he would photo the "18 miles" on the odo and not take a good enough look at the picture to see the 895 miles on trip odo. He's been drinking something :beer

Pretty car, but at $147,000, the seller (a dreamer) has a MAJOR case of Barrett-Jacksonitis. :eyerole

Man you got that right! Although I 'm sure someone out there is willing to pay that much, but it's not me. Nice vette, but I think the car without a pedigree is priced to tag along with the space shuttle!:eyerole

$147,500. for a rebuild?

If you look close, you'll see that the right headlight, is not aligned with the fender on the right side. Also, the hood, on the left corner, is raised up a bit, just at the left front corner.
This car, is too clean to be original. It would have had some rust or discoloration on the rotors and some discloroation in the rear spring area.
Nice redo, but a freekin lie!!!

You can tell the odo has been clocked. The digiits are hanging down into the 0000's, that wouldn't happen with 18 on the odo. Detective Columbo could figure out the 895 in the trips odo wasn't kosher either. I wonder if he left the dvd in the radio for incriminating evidence?

If anyone does find out what the seller has been drinking, would please let me know......Thanks in advance

Don't think the seller was drinking "Straight Up". More than likely is was some wishy washy. :w
