What about these mods?

First, let me list the "freebie mods" my otherwise stock 1987 Coupe (auto tranny, 3.07 rear end gears) has: KN filter with cut-out lid, no pre cats, bypassed TB coolant, TB airfoil, Hypertech Thermomaster chip, 160 degrees stat, manual fans switch, cut back spark plug electrodes.
What I intend to do: ported plenum, SLP's high-flow cast aluminum TPI intake runners (siamesed), Big Mouth Tpi Base Intake Manifold, rear Y-pipe with crossover pipe and Monza or Dynomax mufflers. Also, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Maybe, in the near future, 1.6 roller rockers.
I definitely do not want to go into the engine at this time for financial reasons.

What can I expect from these mods? I do not expect to break any speed records and this car is my daily driver so it has to remain streetable and mantain decent mileage.
What do you think of these mods? NOTE: I intend to keep the stock 48 mm Throttle Body.

Probably ~50 from the intake mods and mufflers.
HP doesnt add linearly, so it would be pointless for me to list a gain with each specific part.

The 1.6rr would give between 10-15, after you did this other work.

Yes, keep the stock TB.
The AFPR is a good idea after youve done all this intake work, it will help in tuning.

TPIS?

Al-

I have gotten good ino from TPIS and I'd expect you would, too, as a customer. They can recommend what intake work serves you and what other items will work with your stege-wise buildup.

One vendor, honest and experienced, will guide you to a great result. TPIS is such a vendor. They reply to e-mail.

Also, many of the mods you describe are discussed elsewhere. Some, notably the airfoil deliver little if anything. This is a great stage to ask a LOT of questions from those who have MEASURED the result. Those who have seen my posts know I am not a fan of the hype touted by some, whcih is not backed up with facts.

I hate wasting money. I have, have learned something but my car is still quite fast.

Got an '86 Convt., L-98

I've installed a TPIS big mouth manifold and larger intake runners, 52MM TB, cut out air filter w/ K&N filter, headers, deleted precats, Dynomax cat back w/ super turbo mufflers and Hypertech Chip. 180 degree thermostat. Dyno'd at 309hp at the flywheel. Has 355 lbs torque.

I drive it daily on Chicago expressways and city streets. Runs great. I have a tendency to cook a set a spark plug wires yearly due to the headers.

Hope you have as much success.

i got an 87 auto with 2.59 gears and stock 1600 stall. mods are in my sig along with track times.

i am going back to the track this wed night to see if i can best it with a low 30 pass or high 20 pass. with lower temps and lower humidity than last time (58 degrees 87% humidity) wed night they are calling for 45 degrees and 56% humidity.

bump the timing and you will notice a HUGE gain in the butt dyno! i think that was probably the best thing in mods i've done so far besides the front Y pipe with no pre-cats and hi-flow cat.

i am trying to hit 12.9x times atleast on a stock L98 from stock TB/intake (non ported) /heads/cam never been cracked open motor.

hopefully with a set of TPiS longtube headers, AFPR, and a custom chip i will see low 12.8x times or better before winter closes me down :(

i only have till dec 16th to finish the headers, AFPR, and chip mods. hopefully i can get them all in and tuned because i want to put in a ZZ409 cam 1.5 RR's and fresh set of RL's and port the hell out of my intake and heads or go with a LT1 intake conversion since i'm on a tight budget till i can find a tech job. with this setup i'm hoping 12.5's or better still on the stock 2.59 gear, stock 1600 rpm stall, and on street tires. (goodyear F1's 285/40/17's)

i think i am in the same dyno range. i am going soon to the dyno and will let you guys know. i am hoping same numbers on HP but alittle higher torque. i heard that with my mods i should be in the 375-385 range on torque. we shall see. hopefully i will have atleast my headers and AFPR installed. chip will take a while to get right maybe. i too am also still very streetable. even with my winter mods i am pretty sure i will be still very streetable but this car is not a daily driver although i did drive it almost every day last year being first year vette owner :D
