When I bought my 98 two years ago it came with brand new non-run flats which now have less than 6,000 miles on them but I would like to change out to run flats for the convenience factor.

What run flat tires do you like best?

My driving is basically "Civilized" with no bad winter weather driving nor Drag/track use. OK, OK .... maybe an occasional hot launch when challenged.

Thanks for the input.

We replaced the original tires on our '02 a year or so ago so did a lot of research beforehand. We ended up with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, and what a difference they made! I replaced the "supercar" tires on my '05 Z51 convertible two weeks ago and went with the same tires (now available for C6). Again, a big difference! We love them.

Same results here with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP (zero pressure), very quiet and smooth. The only downside is that that are a little pricey, but they do have a treadwear rating of 400 (I think there is even a Michelin Pilot Sport A/S "Plus" ZP that has a higher treadwear rating now) which can offset some of the cost down the road.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs as well. I'm very happy with them. :thumb

I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S "Plus" ZP. I am very happy with the ride and noise level (very quiet as everyone has commented)

I'm not sure where you got yours, but these Michelins were the least expensive run flat tires I found. I thought that the Kuhmo (like what were on my 01) would be less, but they were actually $75 more than the Michelins. I got my set of stock sized Michelins for $1000 out the door..

Same here Michelin PS A/S ZPs were over $1200 3 years ago

Best price was from Discount Tire Direct as they ship them to you at no charge. Also Michelin has a built in road hazard warranty on the tires so no need to purchase that. My tires were only about 2 or 3 months old using the DOT code date molded into the tire.

Handling is unbelievable and after 3 years and about 20K miles they still look like new. Mine is a vert and the road noise is so much quieter.
If you want el cheapo go for it. Sometimes it pays to buy quality.:w
BIGHANK

I also went with Michelin's after the originals wore out on my 03 .I plan on doing the same on my 08 .The fact is that Goodyear has improved their tires but so has Michelin .Smoother and quieter .

A good place to compare tires would be "Tire Rack" online

They had a good price, delivered, that's a fact, but I would still have to have to pay to have them mounted/balanced and that was where my tire guy came through. Selling me the tires mounted and balanced for less than the price of the tires from Discount Tire and having them mounted and balanced by him. He made some money on the tires and did the mounting/balancing.

I am interested in the "built in road hazard warranty" As I picked up a nail on the way to CruiseFest in June. I had a heck of a time getting someone to fix it. Finally at a Michelin dealer they did fix it...but I paid for it.

jeez......

my favorite run craps are one that are not on the car :D
Interesting reply, I'm trying to figure out if you are an out of work comedian, or trying to be an @#! with comments in this thread and others...

I'd suggest you try milk on your post toasties ;)

I also suggest you reconsider pushing the "Submit Replay Button" if your input doesn't relate or your answer is as flippit as in this thread and the thread about side door reflectors in the C5 General Forum!!

Goodyear F1 D3 EMT's - too bad GY doesn't make them in C5/C6 sizes. I'm running the D3 EMT on my CTS-V and they are really good and not noisy either.

I'm still running GY F1 GS2 EMTs on my C6's but I see that Michelin is now making the Pilot Sport A/S ZP in C6 sizes now and they are cheaper than the GY at TireRack. When I need new tires on the C6s, I'll take another look at buying Michelins.

Before selling my last C5, I switched it to the Michelin PS A/S ZP and was very happy with them. Michelin's tread wear rating is now 500 for the ZP while the GY is still around 300.

Michelin PS A/S ZP here. Hard to beat them for runflats, plus and excellent treadwear rating.

Kumho Ecsta MX XRP

I originally was planning to get the Pilot Sports but the Kumho's were highly recommended and a lower price. I've had them on the car for 2 years now with great performance so far... bought them from Tire Rack.

I really only drive the car for 3 seasons here in NJ, so these were perfect for me.

Many Thanks.

Wow, wow, wow, the Michelin Pilot Sport tires are fabulous.

I have logged 230 miles since I changed over to them and I would swear I'm either driving a new car or somebody swapped out my suspension with a new version and didn't tell me.

A special thanks to all of you who recommended the tires. I am very satisfied.

Stay cool and enjoy your rides.

Bill, glad that you found them the same as the rest of us who are running them. I really like mine.

PS2 are the best! I had a new set on my 99 Vert when I traded for a 99 coupe. Got Falkens on the coupe and boy did I ever get a Falken. :D When these go it will be PS2
