What is your 'daily driver'?

I drive a 1986 Toyota 4x4 pick-up (22RE 4-cylinder engine). Just rebuilt the engine myself. Very dependable!

p.s. Oops! I just read my post. I didn't mean to imply that it is very dependable because I rebuilt the engine...;LOL ...I meant the Toyota design...sorry!

'96 Ford Contour SE. (6 banger, 5 spd, 167K hard miles). It gets to sit outside year-round while the vette and the motorcycle get a heated garage.
My vette has taken over the reigns as the more reliable car, except in rain (for the most part). The vette doesn't go out in the rain unless I get caught in it. But I would more likely trust my vette on a long haul than I would my Contour. I only take the Contour because of the amenities/comfort.

I give my Contour the nod too! 1995 Ford Contour SE (V6, 5spd, 128k and counting)!

I drive an 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee for now but the company I work for is moving to 4 miles away so on those sunny days ( if we get any in upstate NY ) will be my 2 wheel peddler, Mongoose.

I'll go from 30 miles round trip each day to 8 miles, so I can peddle my *$$ back and forth.

The down side is now with the Vette I breeze the interstate at 70+ but soon top speed will be 30 mph, boring!

snow, snow, snow! I drive GMC Jimmy 4 wheel or my Ford F150. The vette shares the garage with my Harley Sportster til it warms up

I drive an 1997 Explorer. With all the snow we have had, I'm glad we have a four wheel drive! I do miss my vette. It is at my father-in-law's house for the winter. We have to many cars and I wouldn't keep the corvette outside. My husband drives a Crown Vic. He sold his 85 Corvette 2 years ago. I can't wait for spring!!

The vette (when it isn't broken or being upgraded...)

Already replied to the similar thread! :)

85 "Bad Times" Van is my main alternate - seen a lot of use lately :(

daily driver

For six plus years now it has been a 99 Chrysler 300M. One of the best cars I ever owned, and I never thought I would say that about a Chysler. Liked it so much I kept it when I got the Vette in July, and even over the wife's objection. Just passed 74K smiles.:cool

My '81 IS my daily driver! I also have a '76 big block suburban for when I need to carry people or goods, and an '89 Harley just for fun. They are all old, reliable and American made (I love the Japanese people, but give me an American vehicle). I would not give a second thought to driving any one of them across the country (except that the suburban would kill me with fuel cost). God bless, Cris

Thanks everyone!

Thanks to everyone who replied, it was interesting to see where everyone 'comes from' I've always been a Chevy man, and wondered if everyone else with a Corvette was too. As a side note - my Dad's wife's family owns a Chevrolet dealership, and between my wife and me, and my sister and her husband - we've bought 10 brand new Chevys - not a single one came from there! Thanks again everyone - catch the wave! :w

The "Japanese" car I just picked up was made in Illinois by Americans! Its a misconception these days, that people think all "foreign cars are foreign made. Most of the Japanese names Americans drive are made here, from Mexican parts:D

I lived in Japan for 3 years.I've only owned one other "Japanese" car,an 87 Toyota Corolla that had over 200,000 miles & still ran great when I sold it.But the majority of my vehicles have been GM.

My daily driver is a white 1996 Lumina with 119,000 miles. My wife drives a red 1997 Grand Am with only 104,000. Both cars handle very well with their awesome Michelin snows. Much needed with our long Maine winters.

GM Family

First, I am surprised alot of you dont drive GM products. They are alot better than they used to be- styling, reliability, MPG's. Second, I drive my '69 Vette as much as possible, the biggest drawback is no air conditioning on 90+ degree days. I dont mind manual steering, brakes, windows, and transmission, but give me air. If I go anywhere with just my wife, we take her '96 vette. If we go with all 4 kids, we take the Cadillac Escalade. When I am at work, my wife can fit all the kids in the CTS.

All GM

First I've seen this post. From 1992 to December 2005, my '71 Nova was my daily driver. In December, I spotted an ad for an '88 IROC-Z (Camaro) convertible with 53K miles. Having just come from vacation in Hawaii, and having rented a convertible (Mustang), I decided I wanted one.

So, the Nova is semi-retired, unless the weather is terrible, and the Camaro is my new daily driver. My wife's daily driver is an '86 Z-28, her backup is a '98 Silverado Z-71.

Darth Vetter mentioned GM ownership-we own 12 vehicles-ALL but one are Chevrolet. The one? '67 Pontiac GTO. Yeah, bay-bee. ;)

A Mazda 626 from '90. This car always runs and is as cheap as it could get in Europe. Next to the Corvette I think two cars are enough for a student who can use the public transportationsystem for free :)
