WhalePirot, I spent 5 years building GE jet engines for the F-16 fighter aircraft in Turkey, those had 28,000 Lbs thrust - much less than commercial engines. They are really one hell of a piece of equipment. There can be no other mechanical equipment with the precision, complexity and power of a jet engine.
I had old timers from GE as my friends, who always told us that commercial engines are more difficult to produce since they work around the clock whereas military engines are for missions with much smaller range & shorter duration. I mean they take off, do their specific mission, and come back home and rest for quite a while.
And yes, there is always a confusion between Hp of a car motor and jet engine. Jet engines do not produce torque / power (unless used for turbo prop applications). The mere output of the jet engine is what comes out of its rear end (excuse my French...); i.e. thrust...
