What kinda mileage do C5s get?

corvettecrazy said:
even if the OLM shows 0% you still have a miles(I think he said somewhere around 15-20) of safe driving with that oil.
I would think that the oil would become incrementally worse, rather to abruptly fail. The risk of engine damage should also increase incrementally, rather than having an abrupt increase in risk. No?

Hey Stallion ... I also live in MD and I go to Richmond VA, 3 days of the week, 105 miles each way. My modified 2001 gets decent gas mileage according to dic 22 - 24 mpg on 5th gear ... but really don't care much about it. On a 6 speed trans of a C5 ...you get 2 overdrive gears to use. I find the 5th gear to be great on the highway @ 70 or 75 mph ... very seldom I use the 6th gear unless I can set the speed to cruise @ 80 or 85 mph ... not too good around our area on a yellow vette ... the state troopers will pull you over for speeding.

This is the best I ever saw and it was after a 250 mile trip from Marion, Ohio to Lexington, Kentucky.

I get about 24mpg on average, but with the mods I've done to it the mpg changes quickly given the pressure of the foot.

Usually mid 24's mainly around town with some back roads and freeway driving with a 2001 6-speed. Best mileage on a S.F. to L.A. round trip was 26.4 manually calculated. Mileage for tanks which included an autocross usually in the mid 18's. Low 18 has been my worse mileage in 3-years. I record and manually calculate mileage for all my fill-ups. Just one way to see if something may be going wrong.

Good Mileage Numbers...

My 2000 coupe gets 22-23 daily (town/hwy) and 29 on trips.
Compared to my wife's Tahoe, it's our "economy" car. :D

BTW my '62 got 16 and my '80 got 18.....

16?! That can't be the stock fuel system, is it!! :eek

daily driving I average 21.5-22.5 on last weekends trip to Kentucky the average was 28.1; we ran 75-80 from Bowling Green to FT Wayne and the averege picked up from the 26.5 it was showing before that.

The C-5 is my economy car, my 76 required fill ups two or three times a week. The guy at the local Sunoco asked me "where have you been" the last time I filled up;LOL

I use my '99 Coupe (automatic) as a daily driver. I get about 18-21 in town and 26-28 on the highway at about 70MPH.

Hope this helps.
