What makes yours a "Special/interesting Vette" to you or others?

Lately I've seen threads about "how fast you've gone, tickets and weakest links". All very good threads and highly entertaining. Lets read about what makes your Vette special or interesting to you.

My '86 is special because I purchased it from my father who is the original owner. The car currently has 6300 miles on it and only had 5600 when I bought it. The color is Silver Beige metallic/Medium Brown metallic is 1 of 1,014 for that year. It had a few other options that make 1 of ??, so I need to figure that out one day. Its 100% original except for the new wheels and tires I just added and yes I still have the OEM wheels and the original Goodyear gatorbacks "that are in very good shape". The car is literally prefect.

Well, since my last one was a fairly simple very common late 70's shark, I knew this one needed the following:

Original numbers matching engine
427 meaning 68-69
Rare color
Sidepipes
Convertible
Black interior (in case I get bored with the color, I apologize to all the purists out there for even mentioning I would someday maybe change the original color)
4 speed

So she's pretty special to me, even though this vette has no real historical significance, not amazingly rare, or a very low mileage survivor type. The car is exactly what I wanted, THAT's what makes it special

The bone stock LT4 1/4 mile times and the Polo Greens ability to be a stealth color that the police don’t even see!

No to mention that I feel every Corvette is related so to speak. The cars incredible history/legacy as an American icon is very appealing to me. I like that I drive a car that I can be proud of.

It’s the only car that I have ever driven that when I have it out on the 4th of July, I feel like it’s helping celebrate America’s birthday.

It's my first Corvette, it's 13 years old now and has 108K+ miles. That big blue stripe caught a girl's attention a few years ago and now she is my wife. The LT4tified motor under the clamshell. It's a kick to drive and I drive it nearly everyday.

Special interest

My recent acquisition is pretty special to me. I traded a '72 Chevelle SS with 66K miles that I have owned since June 1985 for my '72 coupe. This coupe is pretty unique in that it is code 979 Targa Blue with a code 407 red vinyl interior. Quite an interesting color contrast, with a nice pinstripe on the curves to help make it "pop". I will try to post photos soon, once I figure that out. I'd like to get a picture of it by my name banner, too.

I have no idea how many of these were made, but I have the window sticker and the build sheet (tank sticker) and on this it lists "2VZP2AA Trim and Color Over-Ride" and listed after that is "2V407AD Red Vinyl Interior". That's gotta be pretty special. I have no idea how many were made like this. I sure like this car-it's smooth, clean, pretty fast (the Chevelle had a lot of speed parts, my '71 Nova is light and quick) and FUN to drive. Real fun. Thanks for asking.

My wife knew how much I have always wanted a Corvette. My friend had a 1986 with 8,000 miles on it. She called my friend (without my knowledge) and bought me that Corvette for my birthday. I came home and opened the garage and there she was, all polished up and ready to go! That is why my Corvette is "special".

Actually, since my wife found the car for me in the first place, PLUS suggested I buy it (something I think she's regretted once or twice lately), that makes it extra special.

Oh yeah, it has Cross-fire injection the brainchild of a burned out engineer but doggone it that system is way simpler than a carburetor. I think I can figure it out.

I know the '84's have ECM problems.....I can get a rebuilt for a hundred bucks.

I know....I know it doesn't look as cool as the C3's and the value is plumeting.


But it's my first Vette and I have wanted one for so long.......

Here's the other reason.......from last Saturday.....first fire of the new 8.1-liter 502 following a 4.5 year restoration/modification.....CLICK.

Is this car special to me? Damn straight.

Robert I think you are being much to hard on the 84...its a damn good car. I have never heard of any extencive problems with the ECM either. My crossfire works like a charm. The only obvious problem is, its a 20 year old car and needs a little TLC.

Mine's special because:

1) It represents me. That's the biggest thing. Everything in that car is there because I wanted it there. (sans the creaks and leaky T-tops :eyerole :L)

2) It is my first. (It's like your first real girlfriend...there's always a special place in your heart regardless of others that come and go.)

3) It represents 10 years of ownership and sacrificing many things to get it to what it is now. I'm sure it's going to continue to cause me to sacrifice more in the future.

4) I don't see anyone else driving an vette that looks or sounds like mine.

5) 2004 CruiseFest Celebrity's Choice winner. (I still grin like a proud papa everytime I think about it.)

6) In High School, everyone was talking about taking a rented limo to prom. I said I was going to own my own Corvette and drive that to prom. (Which I did...kinda. I actually skipped prom that night and just drove the vette around. Went to post-prom though

7) Without it, I may have never came to the CAC and met such an awesome group of true people.

My 76 is special in that I built it the way I wanted it, 383 TPI for low end grunt and so many minor mods that there is no other like it; now that I have the 97 I can go back and rebuild the old engine and do some cosmetics.
I drive one of them every day altho the 76 has been negelected with the high price of gas:L

Just like several other replies, mine is special to me because it is my first Vette, and I had waited 30+ years to own one.
I can take it out anytime with no particular destination. In fact, those rides are usually the best; explore roads never taken before.
It turns heads even though it isn't a "show car." Strangers will come up and tell you "what a great car you have." People at work even act a little differently since I bought it. Does it get more respect for the owner? I think so.
My only regret is that I didn't buy one much sooner. But maybe that makes me appreciate this one even more.
