What makes yours a "Special/interesting Vette" to you?

The reasons as to what makes my vette special....well first of all it is my first. It bought last year from a guy who had put it up 6 years ago to keep. He hated to part wtih it but since he was getting divorce he didn't want the wife to have it and he wanted to sell it to a good home. My test drive was the first time I had ever driven a vette. The rest is history. The guy had tears in his eyes as I was loading it onto my trailer to take her home. I knew it had issues. But with only 41,000 miles I knew that a little TLC would produce me something to be proud of. Next month it goes in to be repainted, seats recovered, and some other goodies. The wife :bash at first was objecting to all of the money I was about to spend until I took her for a ride in it. After that my wife told me that since I was having it repainted to go ahead and do the rest of what needs done. I think I'll have to start leaving the keys home now or find another vette. By the way, who was it that said they don't breed? I have heard that most vette owners end up owning at least two, three, or four of them. All at once. Sounds like breeding to me. Now let see, I just wonder what I would get if i crossed my C4 with a new C6:upthumbs .

well my 87 was my first vette. also i got it because of ins when i lost my r index finger at work.i wanted something special to show for my loss. my wife was against it but now drives her own

Mine is special to me because its mine, its a car i wanted since i could remember, and now i have it at such a young age (19). Its the best thing I've ever owned or driven, granted its just an L82, but it has some kick compared to my old firebird who else my age can proudly reply... I got a '75 vette. and it looks darn good, everywhere, anywhere...it stands out and draws attention...I just love it ...

"granted its just an L82"

Kevin
Kevin,
Congrats for getting your Vette at such a young age. I had wanted one since I was your age, but marriage, family, etc. always seemed to prevent it.

As for you saying "it's just an L82", shame on you. It's a Corvette, and that's the only thing that counts. Be proud of it and stand by it. Many others would love to be in your shoes (and your bucket seats).
Good luck.

My first Vette, my 95 was a gift to myself for going through 9/11, a just do it before its to late kind of thing. The previous owner gave me the original bill of sale, the date was 5-20-1995, my wedding date.

My current Vette, my 99, was built on 3-18-99, the birth date of my niece

2004 LeMans Commemorative Coupe...

1- It's a 6-spd, already a rare option

2- First completely brand new car I've ever bought!

Dude! When I got mine at 17 ;), I was only wishing mine was the L82 (210hp) versus the L48 (190hp) that I had at the time. And I was also wishing it was a stick, but I'm happy with my 700R4 now... Props to the next generation of classic vette owners!

Mine's special because after 4 years of doing my own repairs and maintenance, I know everything about it. I also love the color, Gold metalic - only 777 made in 86. Cool number - 777.

If I end up keeping it for a long time, and I might, I'm thinking of converting to a manual tranny - should be a fun (and expensive) project. This will eliminate it's only short fall, IMHO.

Guess all 5 of the Vette's I've owned since 1972 have been special in one way or another. The first was a 70 coupe with a LS5 motor (390HP 454) and 4-speed and NO power steering! Learned a lot about upper body strength with that one!!

My latest Vette is my gold 87 that was a retirement present to myself. I had been autocrossing and doing some track days with my 92 vert which was really my Sunday driver/show car and on one occasion at a track day I got it to 11/10ths coming into a turn so I decided (after some deep breathing excercises :eek ) that I needed a dedicated competition car.

A friend called me one day with an offer to buy his coupe. I knew the car from prior owners and what had been done to the motor and I jumped at it. It's Gold Metallic too with only 397 total gold cars built (264 coupes). I just ordered a build sheet and window sticker from the NCM and found out the car was originally a GM company car sold to the Environmental Staff Activities in Flint, MI.

The next Vette will probably be special too.

MY 1976 completely stock, except for dual exhaust's and size 60 tires, is special to me for a couple of reasons,

It is my first vette, I have only had it about a year and half, it had 40,000 miles on it when i got it now it has almost 50,000.
When I was in the Air Force back in the early 70's I saw a 74 vette on display in the base exchange and swore that some day I would have a car like that, and now I do. That is why its so special to me.

Shouldn't we move this thread to the off road lounge because everyone is answering not just the C4 guys.

Naw, I put it in the C4 forums BUT anyone can answer! This has turned out to be a GREAT thread!

Love my 82CE, because she is the car i always wanted, sincei was a little boy. I got her at 23 and despite lots of crappy comments then (mostly) i am proud of her, then and now. She is the ONLY car i have ever owned (or driven) that i didnt get bored with. Everytime i get in it, she makes me smile. Other cars get just to be 'the other car' after a few years, but my Vette still is it.
:w

PS: ProEMPTFF: Love your Avatar msg.. ;LOL

jonm I was saying much of that in jest. I did hear from hardcore Vette owners to steer clear of the 84s.....but I bought one anyway...just to spite!

My 90 red convertible 6 speed, is special because it IS a CORVETTE. That is really all that needs to be said, but there is more to say. :D From the time I was 14 and watched the tv program Route 66 I wanted one. Finally at age 56 I was able to get one this summer. I dumped a 98 Riviera with all the options so I could get it. Driving down the street with the top down gets many yells " nice car" . what fun. The car is far from perfect, I think it may have been hit once or maybe even twice. It has been repainted and not prepped all that well but from 15 ft away it looks great. It had 69,000 miles on it in June when I bought it and has nearly 72000 on it already. I bought it to drive and have fun with not sit in the garage. Special?? you bet outside of family it is the love of my life, I had almost forgotten how much fun it could be to just drive. Another thing that is great , my wife was all for it and now will take off with it any chance she gets. Pretty good for a grandmother to like driving a vette with a 6 speed .:) On top of that the people in the forum are great.

".... what makes your Vette special or interesting to you."

I guess you just had to be there ..... adjusting the rabbit ears on the old black and white trying to get a discernable view of the guys on "route 66", seeing your first split-window on the showroom floor and debating if it was a good thing!, working in a full-service station as a kid and getting to rub the beast ... even if it was just the windshield, dropping a 327/300 horse into your 56-chev (high school ride) and the thrill of seeing those "corvette" valve covers under your hood .... knowing the complete deal was in your future .

Fast forward 30-odd years, the draft, divorces, kids, dogs, little league coaching, and all that stuff ..... but somethings missing, .... you live life with "the fever" for years and you finally get the cure .... now thats special!!!

vaaa-r-ooo-m!!!!!!!!

Yep, the show route 66 also gave me the fever. Todays kids have no idea what a true muscle car is. They think that their little rollerskates with the fart muffler on them and the 747 airplane wing are fast machines. All I've got to say is that it is very, very funny when a 50 year ole man in a corvette spanks the living hell out of them;LOL. I think I have tought mine right. Although they don't own a vette yet, they do have WS6 and a TransAm. They like my vette. Both of them want to drive the vette so bad they can taste it. No can do. Vette belongs to dad and dad is the only driver. If you want to drive one go buy one:cool .

I just love looking at it. The feeling of getting behind the wheel and taking her out for a spin is refreshing. I keep her covered all week and can't wait for the weekend to take it out. Everytime I unveil it, I just look it over and say to my self, "man, that's one bad ass looking car!!

Every Vette I see is beautiful.

It's raining out so no driving. I'm going out to the garage to just look at it. That's special!

My First Vette

Bought my first Vette from E-Bay last spring, a Red 86 Coupe. It has all the low-profile aerodynamics and Gold style wheels I haven't seen on any other Vette. Hope the Pic. come out.
