Hello everybody,

I have a working air conditioning system. The system has already been pressure tested and the bottle with good old R12 is standing ready.
The only problem is the R12 comes out off a big cooling system because they aren't allowed to use it anymore. So it is nice and clean R12 but as the big cooling systems run there compressors in a separate oil system the R12 doesn't contain any oil.

I only have a new dryer so that should have some oil in it but the rest is still the old stuff.
Who can tell me how much oil I need and which oil I'm looking for?

Greetings Peter

The amount of oil should be in the service manual. I'd make sure that the oil you get is R-12 compatible- I don't recall the number of it, all I can remember is "refigeration oil" which helps exactly zero.
The new oil is an esther base and I don't think it's good for R-12.

air condition options

Hi peer81,ive been away from the forum for a while, but thought i would
air my experiances ive had over the years ,not just the vette but on some
of my other classics. For years now ive been using two products, one is
called freeze 12,the other is Enviro Safe ,freeze 12 ive been using in two of my
buicks for over 10 years,as they both had R12,just changed over to freeze12
best thing i ever did,did not even evacuate old r12,just mixed straight in
thats on my 65Riviera gs,and it is colder than r 12,the other is Enviro Safe,
only used that for approx two years same thing great,on my vette, all my classics dont use 134
never have .,and both these you can use the oil for r12,i live in australia, purchased mine
by ship container, the problem you in holland can not ship by air,not allowed.
Go to ebay read about them ,they are terrific-----item no for freeze12 is 150789812478
item no for Enviro Safe is 150685860108,sold by John over 10,000 feedback,
ive mention this because alot of classic car owners dont even know it exists, thankyou.
sorry peer81,yes it is 2 oz,see item 400111814763,ebay.

Welcome back Wayne!

Thank you for the reply, I'll look into it but as I already have R12 I don't think I'll change over :)
After a google search night I found out (so far) I need 500 - 525 visosity oil. I'll check the shop manual for the amount of oil.

Groeten Peter
