O.K. all you L81ers ... who has enough faith in their SHARK to make it to Auburn in May ?? I remember back at BG a few years ago, when the 82CE's ended up stealing your show, but you still had quite a line-up in front of the Museum for an awesome photo ... even with one imposter in there ! :beer The almighty Yoda, the man that has given you the great L81 Registry, would sure get a kick out of seeing a big showing of the 81's.
... and THE DawG has visions of the possibility of Blender Wars - Part Two !

... most of the stories are true !!! :m

You have the best Registry, and one of the, if not THE biggest ones around.

Even though the Dawg only has an '80 ... it would be cool to see a wave of 81's rule Auburn !!!

Get with your Yoda and do it !!!

Dawg,

Thanks for all the kind words.. Yoda should have known better than to the Dawg the gift of speech ;) Where would a man be without his best friend..

Thanks Dawg

Bud

Dawg,

Mechanically, my L81 would make it there and beyond; however, the paint finish leaves alot to be desired (40' + paint finish), and can't bring myself to positively make the trip with the paint finish is such state.

Definetely, if I were to get Gail painted, then I would make the trip (the 23rd of May is my birth day). :m

don't let a little thing like that stop you, my paint has more then its share of chips and scratches they just add character and show that you drive it more then you rub it:L

we can arrange a cake if you like

I should have stated "my 1981 Vette". The L81 is sitting on an engine stand in the garage...:L

Bossvette, your message is encouraging and tempting my thoughts. Besides, I remember the blender wars from the Sharkfest past, and that was a very nice time as well.

Thanks on the offer for cake, but it won't mix well with margaritas...:L
However, to show you that I really appreciate your words of encouragement, I have already called my boss, and I asked for vacation time around that time.

Hey there Gerry :w .... like the bossvette says - don't worry about no stinking paint !! :bash If we make it there, that's the main thing !! Besides, if we DO ... we might not be seein toooo good anyway !! :drink :drink ;LOL

I'm workin with my Bro in Ohio right now to see if we can do some shufflin in May and make this happen !!

:L I'll have to talk to the commitee and see if we can get a trophy for the "road warrior" as apposed to "garage queen" or best daily driver with points added for chips and tar:L

Gerry,

Don't you remember Rare.. poor thing still has the org.. St. Louis paint job.. she's a beauty at 10 to 15 feet ;) I guess all you remember is the ride eh ... ;LOL

So long as Rare gets out once in awhile she's kinda like the old Yo here, looks really don't matter, it's what's in the HEART that matters ;)

Yes Bud, that ride was my first on a 4 speed L81...wow...I do remember and the flowmaster sound was awesome :BOW

Dawg, I think that Bossvette has a great idea. Its just like the Chilli contets we have at my work. Best and worst chilli, except that in the L81 group would be "best survivor and road warrior" ;LOL

well If I would still be considered an l-81 I am almost totally in just gotta clear the schedule and we will be ready to rock!

I don't know how to break this to you John... but son you be one of us.. L81 engine or not, it still is a 1981 Corvette just on steriods my boy, steriods ;LOL

Bud ;)

I'll bump this back up toward the top every so often (I really don't care for sticking the thread, next you know you have to scan through a dozen or so to see a live thread) :( .

It would be really nice to see as more L81VetteRegistry Members there than we had at the Bowling Green 20th anniversary and 27 showed up there ;)

Gerry ... if it works out, what about hooking up in Wyoming on the 17th ?

Bud and I laid out some prelim plans, and we'd be headed out of Rawlings, WY on the morning of the 17th.

Dawg,

I looked-up the map, and it appears that Rawlings is west of I-25, but I am not sure how many miles. I-25 links with I-80 at Cheyenne.

A check on Mapquest yielded an additional 234 miles from NM to Auburn if I go by way of I25-to-I80. On the other hand, it is more direct even though is at a cost 3.5 more hours of travel. The shorter route has more highway switching, which in my case means increased likelyhood of getting lost...:L

Maybe on the way there I can meet you guys and then return the other way. How's that for the long and vague answer...:L

Hey Blackdog,

How would you like a Memphis boy join up with you guys? Didn't know anything about Auburn until Dale posted a message to me about it.

Brooke says hello!

This could be one heck of a reunion. You do mean Auburn In. Right?

Jeff, call me or send me a message or e-mail.

Trent

TRENT !!!! - :w ... how've you been ??? It's seems like a dang long time since our last Blender-Bash at BG !! :_rock What's the news down there ... and how is Brooke and the youngest member of the family doing ??

Funny thing about Auburn, I hadn't really thought about going until Bud said he was going to try to make it, so ... if we can both have a few things fall the right way ... :m it just might happen !!!
Wouldn't this be a great reunion ?? :pat
Bud and I brought out the maps last Saturday and laid out a preliminary itinerary ... leaving Modesto on 5/15 and doing I-80 straight across, but, it's not in stone.
Wouldn't it be a hoot if we hooked up and ran the last day or so into Auburn ??
I'm also talking to Gerry in NM about finding a hook-up point.
Everything's status-quo here on the hill. Just got back from a week in Death Valley doing some 4X4 in the back country and was going to start getting serious about looking for a job ... but since Auburn may be on the schedule ... work may have to wait for awhile. ;LOL :drink
The ol' DawG is getting too used to bummin' it !!
Had a 200-4R put in the DoG last may - so it's ready for some heavy-duty cruzin now that it has the overdrive !! :BOW :Steer
Give my best to Brooke !!! and we'll be in touch. Hope this can work out !!!

Gerry ... who knows, maybe we do the Southern route on the way out, then I-80 on the return ?? I wasn't too keen on I-40, since it was so butchered up the first time we did the cross-country run back in '01.

Hopefully we have a better idea if we can make this run work in a few weeks - then we can really start to hash out the routes !!

Dudes,
I haven't totally gone away. Just been busy Trent. Would love to see the old 81 group. I will pencil it in. Brad can drive me this time.
