I bought 2 used pickup trucks this weekend at a very good price. One is a Chevy 1/2 ton that was fixed up for a teenager that didn't keep his grades up. I has really nice custom wheels and tires that I think would look great on the Vette. I don't know if they will fit or not. The rims are 15x10's and tires are P275 R60 X 15's. I am thinking the tires are too large in diameter but not sure. Can't do a test swap as the Vette is still in the shop from the nightmare of the front brakes.
What do you think?

Chevy P/U and Corvette are not the same bolt pattern!!:upthumbs

:ohnoes;shrug oh well it was a thought. Will the tires fit on the stock 15X8 rims?

Those tires should fit. I've got LR50x15 on the rear and GR50x15 on the front- Those sizes work out to about the same. I did have to go with a 3/8 spacer on the rear to clear the parking cable. And I'm in the process of swapping to 275/40 17 and 285/40 17's (F & R)

I don't think they'll fit. People seem to be able to fit slightly larger tires on the earlier C3's. The later ones ('80-'82) don't seem to like much larger than a 255 in the rear (without spacers). I know that when my car is up in the air, if it's hanging just right, the leaf spring actually rubs my inner sidewall on the tire.

As well, keeping a wider tire on a the smaller rim will introduce sidewall roll.

I had 275/60/15's on the rear of my 82 when I first bought it. No problem fitting in the rear wheel wells, since you can adjust the spring bolts to lift the body higher.
But I don't think you will want them on the front. That's where the wheel wells will have an interference problem.

275's on the rear, 245's on the front.

I didn't like the handling with the combination, so I'm running 255's all around now.

the 275 R60 fit the stock wheels fine.. on my car I moved the park brake cable bracket to the top of the arm for more clearance. and like he said, the handling suffered.. the car acts like the rear wants to continually try to ride up the hump beside the dished out road surface. lowering the tire pressure helped , but is not a good solution.. the wide tires just don't work well on our dished out Dakota roads.. Soon as i get em burned down to the cords will change rears to 225 to match my front. besides,, they will be even easier to spin...
