Windows hits coupe top

I have an '04 coupe with both tops. The painted top is fine but the acrylic top interferes with the passenger-side window. That is, the window hits the "tab" that projects downward in the center of the top window seal. Sometimes the window winds up *outside* the "tab" with the door closed.

As only the one top has this problem, I assume that there's some adjustment available to change where the top winds up when it's latched down.

Can anyone help?
Is the answer to get the service manual and adjust it myself?
Am I imagining it because I'm lonely and am looking for excuses to spend time with my dealer?

Shouldn't take you more than an hour wait.
This close to Memorial Day Holiday that means drop her off in the morning, ask them to have it ready by lunch and then pick it up mid afternoon.

Thanks all. I've got an appointment for Monday to let the dealer do their stuff.

Hey Tom,

I'm curious, what was the outcome? Was it the simple adjustment U.P.John suggested. I have a similar problem with my painted top (I don't have the acrylic one), except not as bad. My driver side window makes a sound like someone is flicking the edge of the window with a fingernail when I open the door. Probably the tab you were taliking about.

Thanks

Nevets2004,

Yes, it was a simple adjustment. The technician took pains to split the difference between having the window hit the tab and having air/water leaks. So far, so good.

According to the tech, the tab is there to keep the window from bowing outward at speed (when pressure inside and outside differ, I'm guessing). He said the older cars didn't have it.

Good luck with your windows.

I guess I should have addressd this to Steve, not Nevets2004. Ah well...

Tom,

Thanks for the advice. Also, NEVETS is Steven backwards so you were right anyway and the 2004 is for my year Corvette.

Later,
