I just bought a 1998 C5 from a dealer. The windshield had scratch or mark on it from a bad wiper blade. The dealer has said he would get a local glass company to see if they can remove the scratch.

Has anyone had any experiences with removing this type of scratch from a windshield? Or will I end up replacing the windshield?

How large is the mark? Where on the windshield is it located?

Across the whole end of the arc the blade travels on the drivers side. From the bottom of the windshield to the side.

Wow. That it a long mark. It must be annoying to look at when you drive. Perhaps there is some glass buffer compound you can rub it out with. I am only guessing here. Are you sure it is a scratch or just smudge.

Is the dealership gonna foot the bill for removing the mark?

Have seen even bebe holes fixed were you could not tell where they repaired it. But a long scrape, may be noticable when fixed. If you find someone that says they can fix it, go for it. Hold back the check until finished to your needs.

i had that same scratch. I took a hammer and cracked my windshield, Then took it to the autoglass place. Problem solved.

The dealer has said they would pay for the "attempt" to fix the scratch but I dont really think it can be buffed out.

Ah-let's see......

Insurance fraud? Just wondering. :L
