Windshield wiper switch

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center.

I'm going to move your thread into the C4 Tech forum for greater exposure...

Hello my name is Bridges. I would like to know what holds the windshield wiper switch in steering column on the 92 Corvette?

The stalk pushes into what's called the switch assembly pivot and pulse.
The stalk pulls straight out of the switch assembly and the stalk also has a wiring connector that needs to be unplugged. To get to the harness plug you need to unsnap a plastic cover on the steering column. Moving the tilt wheel down should get you more clearance. You didn't say what your problem is but the switch assembly does fail and causes the stalk to be floppy. Here's an old thread that describes that problem.

If you do replace that switch assembly beware you need to tape the hi beam rod in place before you remove that switch assembly. Otherwise the hi beam activation rod will fall out of place and it's a pain to get back into position.

Thank you for replying. This just happens to be the first time I've had this exact problem. The stalk is fine it's the piece it fits in that's broken. I just was wanting to know whats holds that pivoting part to the inside of the column. Is it a snap ring, self locking washer, or what? I'll be taking it apart in a couple days and thought I would find out before I get to it. Merry Christmas and Thanks everyone.

Here's a thread showing the breakdown. This guy was replacing the pivot pin housing. The tear down
is more than what you need to do.

Thank you'll for the info. I'll be back in the shop tomorrow. I don't know what car I'll be on first, but the Corvette will be some time this week. I still don't know what holds it in place right now, but I will very soon.
