WINTERIZING ?THIS MAY BE A SHORT WINTER ?

Well Tom as i've always said good guys drive white.36 more days till April 1st. Steve :) :)

Thanks Steve !..

Down to 5 tonight... not a good time to mess with the battery box.. the garage is 39 at the moment as I have not turned on the heater this week.

I hate having that $340 plus gas bill !

I had a thought today... My garage is not insulated.. it has a trap door/stairs to it's attic.. I bet it might make sense to buy some rolls of insulation and do the ceiling and update the door frames (2) to the garage . It has a sink in it also.. and I always turn off the water just in case.. perhaps I will be able to upgrade my garage for efficient year round use ? Hey, maybe I could add some flooring to the attic.. and make it into something useful.. a MIL Suite or something ?:ugh

Sounds like a good spring project for me.. other than finding the gas tank for that Honda "winter car" that never was used this winter..:confused

Ceilings, windows, walls and floors are the culprits that rob your heat. In that order. Of course uninsulated doors and any open air entries.

I don't have access to my garage for my winter/summer ride. All the snow piled on sucks. The wiper trough seems to be a foot deep and their has been more ice accumulation this winter than previous ones.

$340. That's an ouch..

Well...

It made it to the 40's today so I decided to start my car up and let it run for a bit... hopped in... sat there for a few minutes and played with my armrest;) and turned the key... to a rapid click:ugh .

It appears I have let my battery discharge. So I have it hooked up to the charger at the moment. I guess I should have started it and ran it back in late January..

Just couldn't stand it anymore could ya ? Well thats part of owning a vett, the pure passion. I think you'll find that a charger is superior than trying to charge off your alternator unless you drive 200miles. No matter what good guys drive white and I'm glad you had a special day. :D :D :D

It was a special day !.. It only took me 1/2 an hour to take the battery out of the car.. I kept forgetting which socket fit the cables !:) Optima 910 CA battery btw..

I have it set on a 2 amp charge.. any thoughts how long I should leave it ? The charger has an auto shut off but.. ?? I would guess it was a 90% discharge on the battery.. courtesy lights worked.. but I probably did some draining with my ignition.

I'd check it at 6hrs to see how things are going. Whats the worst that can happen ;) 2 amps isn't a lot ,but thats good.:)

So the winter saga continues.. . The temp is in the mid 50's today !

I charged the battery overnight and left it out until about 45 minutes ago.

Installed the battery... didnt beat up my knuckles too badly:eyerole .. or throw out my back which is good....

Cranked it up..... and Vroom !!!:beer

I let it idle for a bit.. backed down the rpm's.... moved it up and down the driveway and ran it for a good 25 minutes.

There is still no driving due to the evil and hazardous salt laden snowmelt.;help

Tom:w

I gotta finish my projects b4 I can get mine out, besides I wont take mine out till all the salt is off the roads.....
We are supposed to be in for some nice weather this coming week though....
and its about darn time too!!!!!!!!!!

You did it right, now ya need to pray for a couple days of rain and minor flooding .I started my rain dance last night ,no results yet.;)

Well I went out to the garage today to see how my ride was holding up and maybe take it out tommorow. Took the cover off and opened the door to darkness... Battery tender fell off over the winter. Hope it will charge it enough overnite to start tmmrw

That sounds like no fun !:confused

Okay.. today.. Ha ! It was sunny and pushing 70.. roads were dry. So.. after checking the tire pressure and oil and everything else....

A mini Road Trip !!! Tops off ! First of the year and long awaited !:beer
I even had another customer in his 50's at the gas station stop by and say " Nice !" as I was filling the tires.. so the C3 definitely has her mojo going.

I hope it does not snow again soon !:eyerole

15 Celsius in Toronto yesterday and I couldn't wait to get home. I carefully selected a dry route and took the '72 out for a rip.

It did snow.. and rain.. and it all melted ! A nice day today in the 50's.. I think spring is about to really sprung !

Tomorrow could be a good drive day !:)

Tom:w

It was in the 40's here in NY today. Most of the snow has melted and I am itching to get my car out for a drive. I hope all the salt and sand washes off the road by the weekend because I'm going for a cruise!!!

Your to slow Tom...Took mine out at 7p topped the tank off and took it out for a 20 minute spin and feel much better now!!!! I will sleep good tonight

I guess I am slow Joe ! I missed the window of rainless opportunity ! Perhaps it will stop tomorrow ?

Tom
