WINTERIZING ?THIS MAY BE A SHORT WINTER ?

An inch here, two there, it all adds up.
It's more of an inconvenience at this point just to get bundled up to shovel 2 inches of snow off the driveway. Sometimes I actually use a snowblower just for fun. After 10 days of 1-2 inches / day there should be 10-20 inches, but the shrinkage factor kicks in and there's still only 6 inches on the ground.:crazy

Johnstown is in the valley. Much better in winter. Less snow depth. Less wind. HOWever, when there is a flood. Ahem

1889, 1936 & 1977 disastrous ones. Different story.

Oh well. Whatever.....

It has been the first full week of snow here for the winter. Maybe 5 inches or so on the ground and temps in the low 20's all day today.

Sounds a bit better than Northern Norway !:)

Very hot and humid over here in Australia. Storms last night have only made the day worse. 34degrees celcius and too hot to be driving in the middle of the day.
I had the Vette out this morning out to my mechanic to try and get it running right. In the 8 years I have had my car, the main problem I have had throughout is fuel and carburation. I have decided that when I get back from my overseas holiday in August, I am going to get the car fuel injected.

the cold canadian air finally made it down here looks like it is here for a while....:ugh

It pains me to gain in your pain

I do apologize in advance :ugh , but coincidentally, we got a high of 50 Deg F today....:cool...after 4...yes! Count them! Four winter storms, together with the fresh variety of the Flu. Check out the weather forecast in my web page -in the 50's for the weekend.

That's the kind of winter we're used to down here in the South West. So, when you're reports begin with "old man winter is here" ;help or "I guess winter has started finally !",;squint: then that really reassures me that we (the Southwest) are getting back to normal :crazy even though it also means that you guys and gals are not enjoying the nice weather any more.

Sorry about that, and I am sorry that y'all have to endure so much cold (I :mad hate the insanely in-the-teens cold :ohnoes ), but I am glad that old man winter does not live here.:beer Please keep warm. I really mean it.

THANKS GERRY!! ;squint:

we will survive.....always do...We definitely have been spoiled up here in the northeast,up till now.....REALITY just kicked us real hard in the rear end this week,It'll just make us appreciate spring that mush more when it gets here!!!

-5 this am.Makes a fella want to run naked in the woods .My car called said that the heat was down to 63 degrees in the garage and reminded me 63 days till April 1st.

Vetteboy, you pamper that car to much. 63, mine has to suffer through at 50 dregrees, that is the lowest the themostat will go. :D :L

It was 11 below here in west gardiner Maine yesterday morning.

Everyday is another day closer to SPRING!

It does sounds naive, but I wonder if there is really someone out there with a heater-equipped garage...;shrug

Johnstown - flood.
1977 disastrous

Was that before or after they filmed Slap Shot??? I like it better when it's 'cooler' too - nothing worse than working up a sweat drying off after a shower!!! I just cannot believe here in the Williamsport area that we still have no snow to speak of, our yards (lawns) are green except for the northern exposures. I really feel for you folks in Denver, even tho I'm a Red Wings fan, that is just unreal the way Mother Nature has dumped on you so far. It was 1 degree F yesterday when I left for work, but it's currently 30 here now.
69_coupe - please tell me your baby isn't parked on the street under a tarp!!! Everybody stay cool - (warm!!!)

Ah,it complains it's tires are cold at 60. It watchin' the weather channel doesn't help either.

GerryLP,
There are lots of folks up here in Maine that have heated garages. I have a 32x28 and heat it with a house trailer hot air furnace. Makes it nice and toasty on those 0 degree nights when you want to go out and work on the vert. We never could have winter projects without heat in the garages. I usually put mine up in mid November and can't get it back out until mid to late April.

My garage is approximately the same size.. it has a small Reznor gas heater mounted on the ceiling.. I have not yet had to turn it on.. although if and when I do I think I would set it to 50 F or so... as it is 12 out at the moment.

Normally, however, with the garage being attached to the house it stays above 40 F most of the time in there. It also helps that twice each day the w's camaro ( her winter car.. the honda wagon with the unfindable bad gas tank has not been in use this winter) shows up nice and warm and heats it up also.. after the initial door opening shock of course !:D

Up here in the colorado mountains it has been really really cold last week or so. Last week it hit -34 F. And lots of snow and I'm sick of it even though I ski and snowboard. I just really want to drive my car. Good thing though we have a huge heated garage.

Heated Garage is the-way-to-go it seems

I asked, for I imagine that there must be members with heated garages, but I thought that perhaps it was not the norm.

My aunt and uncle live in Vernon, CT, and they don't have a heated garage, so I could not tell if they were more common that imagined.;shrug

I like Vernon, even though it seems that it is finally falling to development from near-by Manchester and Hartford.

Radiant heat flooring is still a bit expensive in the southwest, but it definitely is the way-to-go for heating a garage. No mechanism to force the air is required. A positive advantage in cost.
