... well, at least IN a parade.

A co-worker asked me if I'd drive his daughter in the homecoming parade for our local community college tomorrow afternoon. This brings up a question: does the C5 "waterfall" act as a support pillar for the tonneau cover? I'm just curious.

From what I understand, he's a pretty good photographer so I should have pix to post afterward.

Jane Ann, can't answer your question about the waterfall, but a word of advice. I've done the parade thing for homecomings back in the 60s with my 66 convertible - no waterfall, just an open area much like your previous C4 convertible. The Queen or one of her court maidens will probably sit on the rear deck - it did not hurt my 66. However, make the rider remove her shoes, put a blanket on the deck and another on the console or seat, and help her sit in the correct position. She will probably rest a hand on your shoulder for support, so don't be surprised when her hand is digging into your shoulder. Also, let her know when the car is going to move from a dead stop, when you are breaking, and also when accelerating. She will not be thinking of the corvettes motion when she is waving to the onlookers. And finally, don't let the king ride in the car, especially if he is wearing his football uniform and cleats, and is a big lineman. And don't smoke your tires! Have fun too.

Thanks for the advice Barrett. I thought of the shoes and blanket in the seat - but not one for her to sit on. Good point.

I can't smoke the tires??? There goes my share of the fun. :chuckle

......looking forward to the pics!

Hey Mike! Of the Corvette? Or the girl? :L

Got a call about 1:30 this afternoon... they had to pull the plug on the parade because of the weather. Rain and cooler here today. No word yet if it will be rescheduled later this week.

And I got Cinnamon girl all spiffed up too. ;squint:

Mike... trust me... the homecoming maid is a much better subject for photos. :L
