I am a wannabe, years of riding a Harley from Canada to Mexico annually, and having covered nearly every state and province after 45 years of riding bikes has left me asking myself, "What now?" . Not that I am bored of riding on two wheels but the reality is my body isn't as kind to me as it once was. Then it came to me in a dream: Do it all over again but this time in one of those beautiful cars that I once dismissed as "trendy" and driven by folks that never leave their zip code area. This myth was debunked when in May in Key West Fla. I observed very dusty and bug splattered 1972 vette convertible with Yukon lic. plates

So, I am dedicated to finding the perfect C4 from 1992-1996 and she has to be a convertible. Zappa is my white German Sheppard and loves front seat navigation in my friends C5. His ears are like antenna and I swear they are still growing. In the C5 they stick out over the windshield line with the T top removed. Can't wait until I get a C4 auto convertible, anxious to drive it even up here in the frozen north Rocky Mountains of Alberta. Would love to hear from any C4 soft top owner with confirmation that I am heading down the right path and what to avoid or watch out for with a purchase. Thanks folks and be safe!

It's July out here and it hasn't snowed........this week

As a bike rider, you're probably used to packing light for road trips. With a C4 Vert, that will come in handy as there's not a lot of room for luggage in them.

Hope you find a good one and enjoy the road with it.

thx tuna.....

thanks...hopeful to find something decent in the $12,000-$15,000 range for a 94-96...what u think?

It's been a while since I priced C4s - so, I took a look at Kelly's Blue Book for '96 verts and KBB says 12K ought to get you an okay driver. Better ones with low mileage will go up from there.

Seems kinda high to me...I picked up my 99 FRC (C5) for $15K 2 months ago...great car. I think you can get a good C4 for less than $10K. Anything over that better be pristine and low miles...Maybe I'm wrong.

thx again

I use NADA...it appears to be a better guide...94/95 coupe with 80K miles have a clean retail of $9K-$10....The 96 GS is a bit more....starting at $36K. I guess that Grand Sport is pretty special.

97's (C5) look to run in the $12.5K range....they just go up from there.

There are a bunch of 94-96 Vettes for sale on AutoTrader for sub $10K

Welcome to the CAC.....I too have made the decision to give up the Harley for the comfort and excitement of my Corvette. 40 years of hardtails, choppers and baggers through rain and wind and sometimes snow is enough for me. Having had all the generations of Corvettes from C2's on up and if you are going to do some traveling in it my opinion is the C5 is the way to go for several reasons. One of them being more room for you and yours and the other being the LS1 drivetrain is a great piece of engeneering. Get the least miles and newest model you can afford and run the wheels off it. That's my take anyway......they got good heaters too don'tcha know.....:thumb

Welcome to CAC. Like several have said before, they are great cars, but I would have to agree with Huskerman, move on up to the C5. C4 verts have very little luggage space...virtually none with the top down. As far as comfort, the C4 is there. When I had my 94 (coupe), the wife and I made a few trips where we did 9-11 hours in it a day. We just got back from a 3800 mile trip in the C5, 700 miles two different days. Very comfortable cars.

What ever you decide on you'll sure to have a good time. :w

Welcome to CAC!!!!
enjoy!!!

thanks so much. still gonna keep riding two wheels but as u say i now have a choice......heading to new mexico with a buddy in a few weeks on our street glides but also intend on looking at vettes on the way there and back......c5 sounds good.....too many decisions to make!
