Went to cruisefest4 at Colorado Springs,CO. and drove 1188 miles and noticed I picked up a front end vibration at 75 to 90 mph.Had front and rear alignment done after I lowered car 6500 miles ago. Also noticed the front tires are cupping and feathering on the inside and outside.I think I have a balance problem and a wheel alignment problem. My question is, is it toed in or out or caster or camber?
Has anyone had there tires do this? What was the fix? Thanks for any help!

Tires

Hi, My 99 Coupe feathered the insides of the front tires. Alignment shop found right front to be out, set to factory, which I understand will eat tires with those settings. The cars are set up for high speeds. Search some of the other threads, GMJunkie chimed in w/specs that are more tire friendly, but troublesome at 140mph. The shop I go to would not deviate from factory parameters.

Hang in there, VJ. The best person to answer this question on factory settings for caster and camber is C4C5Specialist. I'm sure he'll be along soon.
:)

I did some searching but did not come up with anything yet.
Thanks VJ

I run zero camber all the way around,
toe is in a 1/16th front and rear
and caster around 7 with a 1/4 degree split ( a quarter degree less on the left side )
no cupping or feathering :D

I am going to print this off and take it to my alignment guy to show him what you guys are saying. He has Hunter equipment so he can do it right. His Dad has vettes and so does Travis.

GMJunkies numbers are good!!!
I used them for my alignment last spring when I got new tires, and I have no signs of any of the bad things that were happening before.
That's exactly what I did. Copied his numbers and gave them to the alignment guy when I got there. They had to convert the toe-in numbers to degrees, but otherwise it went without a hitch.
You will like it a lot! But it is a little loose above 100 MPH because of the light toe-in, but the tires aren't cupping at all.
It doesn't feel like the same car afterward.:upthumbs

You know I don't drive that fast anytime.:) There's no place to do it around here without hitting potholes.
I will gladly trade off the high speed handling for that Cadillac feel at the wheel.

Car is fixed!
Had front tires balanced on a Hunter Road Force balancer and the right front was out bad. That fixed the vibration. Then they did a 4 wheel alignment and front and rear caster and camber was ok.The toe was out bad on the front and a little on the rear.Car drives great now.:D
