I voted for the single DD

In my opinion it should be like :

Speedsters wide center DD

TT and SNAT with aerobodies should have the center DD
TT without aerobody should have the megaphones

CR1 should have the 2 sets of DD on the factory outsides.

C5 and C12 normal center DD

C6 and C16 wide center DD

:upthumbs Callaway ,,,,,,,,, I'm loving it :upthumbs
...and C8s with no (visible) tips at all :upthumbs

:chuckle when I saw this topic, I went "Whoa, I must be writing things in my sleep!"

MY C8 HAS TWO DD EXHAUST TIPS!
I HAVE SEEN OTHERS WITH ONE ROUND TIP ON EACH SIDE.

John's C8 is one of the least photographed C8s I know of. You should share some pics buddy! :D

Personally, I'm not a big fan of ANY tip at all on C8s. None of them seem to flow well at all. I don't mean to insult anyone or anycar, but this is just personal my opinion. :)

On my future car, I plan to just have the pipes cut aft the muffler. Of course, this is all arm chair speculation, so there's no telling what I would decide once I see it in person. My decision could be a mistake, as it would hinder the entire reason for having pipes... to route the exhaust out from underneath the car. Perhaps I'll just have no tips at all and the exhaust pipes painted black.

Here's a few exhaust examples. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to why some of the early C8s (like the teal one) came with straight pipes, while even a REALLY old pic of a silver one has double-Ds:

Prototype #1: round tips (it has them in the pic that started this topic, you just can't see them)

I need to put all my pics on flickr or something... there's a lot of cars I can't show right now because I simply don't have the pics online.

...the silver car with the long round tips, is from North Carolina. The owner and his wife joined us at the Callaway Reunion at Carlisle back in 2002. He even brought the car there, but wasn't able to park the Camaro on the grounds at the Vette show. Nice folks. Looks like they have a personal tag now :cool

Hello all,

I think that all C8's, or all Callaway tips for all of the Camaros were round, unless otherwise specified. I have had six of them, and all but the one specifically ordered with the stock tips adapted to the Callaway exhaust have had the round ones. Theodore "Bun" Pugh, the gentleman with the silver Aerobody had his 97 anniversary repainted silver. It does not have the SNat, but it did have the complete Callaway exhaust, so it features the round tips also.

I hope this helps,
Anthony

Back in the '90s, long round tips were the popular thing to put on Camaros, so I'm not surprised most of the Callaways ended up with them as well.

Are you saying that Bun had a '97 30th Anni edition (white with orange stripes, and white interior) and had it painted silver when he got the CamAerobody? If that's true, he must have had the interior swapped out and I'd expect the engine bay to be white since he didn't get the SNAT. Maybe that's why I don't have a pic of it with the hood up? Because the engine bay is white and he doesn't like to show it off... :confused
