I've located an 08 Black Z06 with 6,000 miles, chrome wheels and Nav, 2 LZ. Is $54,000 an incredible deal or just average. I'm ready to buy but concerned the market will fall even more. I need your input. You guys (and gals) always talk strait. So what do you think?

Best regards,
Sal

It's an "ok" deal, providing the car is unmolested. The car will continue to diminish in value over time. I'd never own a black car, never. The Z is already an oven, why make it worse by painting it black?:W

What color is your Z? I love the black. There are too many red vettes around here and I already have a red one. I would think an 08 car won't drop below 50k for another year or two. What do you think? What's an 06 woth today, high 40's?

Thanks for the reply.

Sal,

Just look at Ebay and watch how a lot of '06's are either not getting bids or the Buy It Now price is in the high 40' - low 50's.

I have a black '07 Z, that I've owned for two years now and love it. The price you're looking at is already down 20k from the car's original price. It will continue to fall, but the question you have to ask yourself is, Am I ready to buy, and do I like the car.

I waited two years to get mine. When I purchased it, I got it at sticker, which I thought was a great deal at the time. Now two years later they can be had for 10k off.

I'm satisfied with my deal, and I've had the car for two years already. 16,000 miles and plenty of great memories thus far.

Good luck in your choice! :thumb

Pulled the trigger and got an 08 with 1,100 miles. GREAT price!!!!! Can't wait to make it faster.

I can't think of a finer Christmas present - congratulations!
Did you end up getting black?
Please post some pictures when you get a chance.

Mine is DSOM. The value of Corvettes are dropping very quickly now, even (especially) the collector cars. Now that Bowling Green is shutdown, the 2009MY census will be lower, but the demand is still below supply so I don't see an increase in values yet. Now the ZR1 might hold up better as they won't build the scheduled 2000 for the 2009MY. A little over 500 have been built so far. This low number may increase their value.

Enjoy your new Z06, but watch out for transmission shifting issues. The 2008/2009 cars have problems with the TR6060 tranny.;shrug

I got a good deal on mine (52k) so I'm not worried. I just want to enjoy it rather than waiting for the bottom to hit. What kind of problems are they having?

You basically bought a brand new car, so I don't know why you'd be worried about depreciation at this point. I would think you purchased this car for the long haul not to turn it around in a couple of years. I'd just enjoy the heck out of it and not even think about the cars value, at least not for the next few years.

I always consider cost and depreciation. I usually keep between 5 to 8 cars around and sell them when I get bored and buy another when one peaks my interest. I probably won't keep the car too long, maybe a year or two. I do plan on enjoying the Z as much as possible. Just can't wait to get it here from CA.

4 more hours and it will be here. I need a sedative and a Tums in order to wait that long.:puke

Not to hijack your thread but what year/color is the Viper? Any pics of the two together? I have an 02 Z06 and a 01 Sapphire/Silver GTS. Love both of them. :upthumbs
