V8 Power all the way
Call me old fashioned or a traditionalist--I want and like V8 power. Keep the faith, baby. No need to change the number of cylinders or displacements on our American sports car.
Yes taxes are higher in many countries
Clearly, taxes effect the bottom line the consumer spends for any product.
In Germany for instance, the consumer never knows what the "sales" tax is as the product has it already built into the cost paid for it. This is much like the gasoline taxes in...
Inexpensive gas is a link to a strong economy
Following WWII, the US made travel easier via the automobile with the creation of a network of roads going east and west and north and south. During the '50s the US really expanded and it was because of the economy and the new improved road system...
Learning--it's a good thing
BigJimZ16--Hib--
I'm quite familiar with automotive forums having run one myself for 12 years. I know it takes a lot to get people conversing about things to iron matters out.
I've always had an interest in Corvettes and owned a C3 before this C5. I also own a...
BigJimZ16 -- Thanks for the informational response. :w
My clutch engages much, much higher in the pedal travel. I prefer it lower to the floor like yours. I've driven stick cars for 45 years and that's where I like it. ;)
Adjusting the hydraulics appears to be the solution--one that I'm...
So far 52 people have looked at this question and no one knows the answer as to the difference in the clutch systems. Is everybody driving automatics? :confused
I will need to replace my clutch and pressure plate before the end of the year. Is there a performance difference between the Z06 and the stock clutch and pressure plate?
[ I realize this in not the standard mechanical clutch system but uses hydraulics to operate, nevertheless I must ask)
A...
earnestD--Yesterday morning we got a real taste (or is it smell) of the glades fires burning in Collier County. Sometimes we get only the smell but yesterday it was thick with smoke too. By 1 pm most of it had dissipated.
Funny thing, when I got this vette, my wife didn't want me to pick her...
Yes the general public perceives us wrong
I know this is off topic but couldn't resist.
Traffic is very heavy in certain areas where I travel. Often there are dual left turn lanes that are hundreds of feet in length. At these large busy intersections there are "people" trying to sell...
Sticking with 93 octane for now
93 Mobil is what I routinely pump into the tank; never the lower grades...at least not yet.
Gasoline has been as high as $4.34 for premium and seems to be hovering around $4.20 right now in most stations I see in Broward County. Fortunately, gas consumption...
No lighting--it's all dark
The temperature display light is not working (illuminating) in my C5 as well. Adjusting AC is trial and error. :L
What is the correct fix to get this to illuminate again? :confused
The recommendation to have low slung Corvettes hauled on a full trailer or flat bed truck, I believe, is to ensure that the rear suspension is not damaged when the front end is a foot or more off the ground when towed from the front end.
My 1977 Corvette, prior to my ownership, had been towed...
Roof has a million spiderweb fracture lines in the acrylic top
The sun and heat have taken their toll over the past 10 years. The acrylic has millions of fracture lines throughout. The top fits good no issues there but it looks pretty bad up close.
Thompson Astro Tops in Florence, AL will...
The acrylic roof panel on my car is in bad shape now and needs to be replaced. Has anyone replaced their top using Thompson Astro Tops?
If so, how has the replacement held up? They claim their product is superior to the GM roof.
