:upthumbsWhen I bought my 84, the previous owner indicated that it had had a new clutch a few years and about 5k miles ago. I have a unique sort of squeeking noise that is like the sound from the brakes when the wear indicator toucheds the rotor.
It does this when I am in gear and goes totally...
My other car is a 79 Z/28 and this is the first Corvette that I have owned. I'm used to jacking my Camaro, like most cars, from the front or the back.
I looked at another post and it had jacking instructions and now it makes sense -I couldn't understand why it only discussed jacking from the...
:confused I am changing the intake manifold gaskets on my 84 and am going to flush and refill the coolant, replace the theromstat etc. and want to put it on jack stands to get good clearance.
I bought a shop manual and looked to see where the jacking points are and it shows the four service...
;helpI'm installing a new intake gasket on my 84, it has an intermittent leak on the rear passenger side, and figured that I should flush and change the coolant. I am also going to change the thermostat -my car actually takes way too long to warm up and that seems to keep it fast idling too...
Schrade,
Thanks for the cleaning idea. I ordered a gasket set form Corvette Central that has both intake gaskets, the throttle body plenumn gasket and what looks like a distributor gasket? I also ordered the air cleaner base gaskets since mine are shot -noticed that when I changed the valve...
I really like my 84... but it is sure testing me. The todo list is longer than the one you get from most wives!
In adition to the other stuff going on with my car, I have had a PIA coolant leak, that is not too bad and seems to come and go. It is on the passenger side and it puddles on the...
Ok, it seems as though keeping the sytem R-12 is the easiest, if I can find refridgerent and there are no leaks -my refridgeration buddy is looking for some R-12 for me. If we can find it, do we try and charge the system to see if it just hadn't been charged in a long time or even to find out...
Thanks, I think that I'm going to go with Corvette Central's leather like perforated vinyl ( they look the same as Ecklers are $20.00 less), use my original seat foam and get new hog rings and the "V" tool.
Anything else?
Thanks, Glen
My 84 has an OD switch in the console that you either turn on or off -I almost never turn the OD on and this Z51 lumber wagon with fat tires is a HUGE blast!!!
I have a question; Someone above said that this is a Borg Warner T-10 with an OD unit -is that correct?
Thanks,
Glen
Where can we get the best deal on non-leather seat covers? Ecklers has them for my standard 84 seats @ $399.00 pair for Carmine non-perforated -anyone used these and if so how do you like them?
Thanks, Glen
