Well this will be #1 for the other side. I went thru about 3 Q-Jet and still couldn't get mine to run the way I wanted. Finnally I put on a 650 Spread-bore Holley; It's be on there for 2 years now and Love it. I've got tire smoking performance, and 17+MPG on the Hiway.
Holley is easy to tune...
They are not Eckler's or anyone else that I know of. I had a Daytona Wide Body and have seen almost every sold flare kits. This appear to be hand made and VERY WELL DONE. I LIKE IT.

Just a thought since money is always an issue for most of us. 80-86 Corvette/Camero 305 heads with the 184 /150 valves and small cambers can work. You still need to port the intake & exhuast. They have 58cc cambers and once ported they flow better than the stock 350 heads. Don't mistake the...
I have the heads. A friend gave them to me thinking they were 172s. I checked the intakes and they are 184s and the valves have the double springs. I was just finshing a set of 350 194 head. Porting with all new valves; just needed to get all the seat & valve ground to match. So, I was thinking...
Well the ports don't look to bad; and a little porting should help the flow. Maybe? Most other 305s used 1.72 intake valve and they didn't flow that well. So, what make them flow so poorly; besides the small intake size?
Good points.
Hi everyone; Here is my Question:
The 78 350 is one of the lowest compression engines ever in a Corvette. The HP rating was only 5 hp over the 80 305. Now I have had an 80 305 Vette and like it very much. It could use a little more torque. But back to the question, Using the 305 small chamber...
That's correct it's the old model; # on the choke horn are, 80555 then under that is D579. The primary metering plate has 7445 stamped on it.
The intake is a Weiand Action Plus tht I picked up with a box of other SB parts at a sale. Only paid $75 for a whole box full of stuff; Dist. carbs and...
I use an Action + intake; 14 in. X 3 in. air cleaner; #60 main jets. There are other things I've done with the exhuast and timing. The Holley and intake made the big difference in the drivablity - performace - fuel mileage. Turning 3500 rpm's and 70 mph had to do something. :W Guess I should...
After 3 Q-jet on my "78 I went to that Holley. I must say I a bit old school to begin with. BUT I'll NEVER GO BACK TO THE Q-jet. The Holley runs and preforms great. After a little tuning I'm getting 18 mpg hiway. This on a 4-speed & 4.10 rear gears. I LOVE MY HOLLEY. :beer

When I just got tried of working on mine I decided to just throw a paint job on it and drive it. That was two years ago. I had Maaco paint it; it cost under $500 and looks good to this day. If you are not looking for show quaility but can't stand the primer any longer it a good way to go.
Good...
Having the manuals is always a good thing, but they don't tell all. So ask all the question you like.:beer As for myself, as well as most people here, I'am always willing to help if I can. Ask away and become a friend here.

Yes it is a VERY GOOD replacement for the Qjet. I'm running one on my 78 and it is great. Much easier to tune than the Qjet. I'm sold on the Holley. I can smoke the tires when I want and the tach will hit 6500 with ez. :beer
