    Bumper savers: Do they work?

My front end is suffering every time I exit and enter the driveway. I'm considering the Mid America Motorworks bumper savers with the polyurethane wheels. Anyone know if they really work?

ABS and Active Handling warning message

Out of the blue, I'm getting messages to Service the ABS, Active Handling, and Traction Control. What would cause this, and is there a huge bill in my future?

    Search for the Silver C5

Cannot find a detailed (1/24) Silver C5 with the 2000-style wheels AND the body side molding. Diecastmuscle.com has a nice one, but with the older "wagon" wheels. Any suggestions?

Any HONEST dealers left? Sign in, please!

Sorry, but I don't agree that $50 for anything is a "bargain". I got my bargain by paying $20 for the blank key and $3.50 for a locksmith to cut it. Let me put it to you this way...if you were driving with your convertible top down and fifty bucks flew out the window, would you be ****ed, or...

Any HONEST dealers left? Sign in, please!

Thanks for the info. I stand corrected and do acknowledge most of what you are saying. However, "luck" had nothing to do with it. I made sure I ordered a key with the same resistance value as my original by having a friend read the chip with a meter. Then I found out which key "number" to order...

Any HONEST dealers left? Sign in, please!

First, thanks to all who responded to my VATS programming question in the Technical & Performance forum. I'd ordered a blank C5 key (with same resistance value as my original) that just needed to be cut. Two key places (not locksmiths) told me no way; ONLY the delaer could do it. Fine. I went to...

    VATS programming question

Thanks to all who responded. You were right, of course, no programming necessary. Why is truth at such a premium these days?

    VATS programming question

I'd like the name of that store. I went to Home Depot and one other place; they both swore they could NOT cut a key like that. Let alone sell me one!

    Millennium Yellow vs Quicksilver

I pondered long and hard over what color my first Vette would be. Red-Black-Silver? Yellow was never an option. Maybe if I lived in LA or Miami, but not here in the Midwest. I finally decided on Silver and waited quite a while for one with the options I wanted. I'm glad I held out. Silver is...

    VATS programming question

I ordered another key for my 2000 Coupe from an on-line retailer. The new (blank) key has the same meter reading in the chip as the original, so I'm sure I ordered the right one. I was under the presumption that as long as those readings matched, I could simply take it to get cut in the shape of...

What gas brand is favored for Vettes?

What gas brand is favored for Vettes?

Just as Mobil 1 is the preferred oil for C5s, I'm wondering if there is a frontrunner in gas brands among owners. I will only use the highest octane regardless, but is there a detergent (or otherwise beneficial) gasoline that keeps the engine at peak performance? Mobil-Shell-bp-Speedway-Clark-other?

To tow or not to tow...

Driving recently through either Georgia or Florida a few weeks ago, I saw what I thought a surprising sight...a C5 towing a cycle on a trailer. Now, granted, at least it WAS a Harley, but come on. Is it just me being squeamish, or are there a lot of Vette owners who don't mind hitching up before...

Exactly how are VATS values expressed?

    Thanks, Bob. you're a lifesaver!

Exactly how are VATS values expressed?

I'm hoping someone has the definitive answer to this...I'm ordering a blank OEM key from a ebay retailer for my 2000 coupe. I read the Resistance Value memo on the CAC from retired engineer Jerry Watts, and had my existing key read by a technician at my job. The same reading came from two...

    Finally...She's here...and she's beautiful!

Yes, it's my first. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted a Vette. Now, at 44, I can take care of her properly. Around here (Chicagoland and suburbs), 6-speeds are tough to find; this one came from Tennessee. Now if only the weather will cooperate for a while so I can learn to drive that stick...

    Finally...She's here...and she's beautiful!

In the words of Vader: "This will be a day long remembered" It was a wonderful sight seeing the long, enclosed trailer pull down my cul-de-sac. Inside was the ride of my dreams, a Silver C5. And when she was finally escorted off her perch, she was a jewel under an overcast sky. I want to...
