It's actually not based on the ENGINE temp, but on the transmission temp. On a warm day, it'll go into O/D immediately even if the engine still says LO. [RICHR]

I agree - the iTrip is probably the best of the FM modulators out there. You "tune" it by picking a "song" on the iPod that's the frequency... Made by Griffin, who also have these nifty iLights - white LED flashlight and laser pointer that get powered by the iPod. Great for a maplight. [RICHR]

Happened to look under the hood today and saw to my horror that the air filter lid wasn't meeting flush to the filter housing, and air was bypassing the filter... turns out that the right-side pressed-in nut had pulled out due to a crack in the plastic housing. Not sure if it was just age, or...

It looks bigger than a tire valve stem. You should have one on your fuel rail; can you confirm this? It looks more like the R-12 valves. [RICHR]

I've got small amounts of fuel leaking past my schraeder valve as well. At first I thought it just needed tightening (it was loose) but it still did it afterwards. I was told it's age... where can you get one of these cores cheap? Thanks. [RICHR]

This is sad. Gas here (Baltimore) is more expensive than Ca. $3.39 regular on avg. And what's worse is that my favorite package goods store raised its beer prices because they're afraid their supplier is going to hit them with a big fuel surcharge. [RICHR]

I've got a fuel pressure gauge if you want to try the leakdown test, but IMHO if it starts fine when cold then that's not it. I'd have to look up the CSI test. Sorry; I mis-understood your issue when you were explaining it this afternoon. [RICHR]

Ed, thanks for the #. I'll give them a call. The joints *seem* OK; there's essentially zero play when grabbing the tire and wiggling it around. I'm afraid to mess around too much with a crowbar - I've bent things (not on the vette) in the past too easily. [RICHR]
