I'm in the process of a major restomod on my 65 Coupe. All the aftermarket frame
guys say, "Oh people are just using the "Big Tank" covers in the rear floor area
to make room for the C6 suspension."
Does anyone know who makes these 1
piece rear floor panels/"Big Tank" covers? I can't find...
Thanks all. Now I'm going to have to get up to speed on C2's ;) It's in about as good if not better condition than my 71 was before I did the frame off on it. I'm thinking Resto Mod for this project. I was at Carlisle last week and it was like Corvette ADD with all the cars, vendors, and choices.
Hey Art. Thanks. Yeah I spoke to him a couple of times. I think the reason he blew the motor is because he hurt it last year when it overheated. I think he cracked the block then and didn't know it and then blew it up at the track when he put it to the test.
Sidepipes are more of an emotional decision from my perspective. I just love the way they look so I had to put them on my car. They sound great. Corvettes really work with the sidepipes. Some people hate them and that's ok too.
The covers you show above are the same ones I put on the car...
No problem. BTW you can buy that same motor directly from the builder with some tweaks and same warranty. The motor comes from Derebery http://www.dpmpower.us/smallblock.php You can call them directly and get some feedback too.
Good luck. Drop me a PM any time.
Thanks for the nice...
I put the Year One motor in my 71 and needed to put on an L88 hood. The intake is a knock off of the Edelbrock Air Gap. If you put the 1 inch spacer under the carb per their directions you lose even more space. I know your car has a slightly higher hood than my stock 71 hood so it may work...
I was just digging around and saw this one too. It's actually a color I like with most of the body mods I'd like to have. York PA isn't too far from me either. The add mentions a soft spot in the frame. I'd have to see it in person. I was thinking of doing a "Paul Newman" type frame with C4...
I'm in the market for my next project car. I'd like to do a Resto Mod Mid Year so my goal is to find a decent mid year, non numbers matching to get started with. Even these types of cars beg for serious money.
I found a car near my home. 1966, 4spd, Convertible, am/fm, AC (missing from...
They should bolt in pretty close. The rear bolt holes are offset so I'll have to mock something up. I like the style better than the solid backs in my 71 now.
Thanks! I'll pull the hinges apart and clean them up.
My 78 was my first Vette too. I wish I could track it down and buy it back but it's been gone for so many years I doubt I'll ever see it again.
I've got a dumb question for you...
I just bought a set of 79-82 style Corvette seats from a local junkyard. I'm updating the seats in my 71 because I liked this style seat a lot when I had my 78 Pacecar.
What I can't remember from the old car or figure out with the new seats is how to...
Tom DeWitt is a standup guy, great vendor, excellent product. Aluminum is the way to go.
Yes take off the hood.
Fan shroud can be a pain depending upon your year you might have to move the uppear A-Arm out of the way on the passenger side.
Radiator removal is nowhere near as much of a...
