    Help! 4000 RPM's at 65mph . NORMAL?

Final Gear Ratio I have changed the rear end gears and have had 4:11, 4:56 and 4:88. I think the car may have 4:88. A good all around final ratio is a good topic for discussion. I would say he should change it to something in the 3s, like 3:36. Another factor is the type of manual transmission...

    Time for New Exhaust

I too have the bullets. People can hear you coming and going. The only thing I don't like is there is a lot of cabin noise below cruise. :cool

    New Vette.

The C5 FSM is in three manuals. If you want to look up your codes you can try this site http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm. If you need something else, I can look in the manual for you.

    New Vette.

Congrats Paul. I had a 96 LT4 Convertible when I sold it and bought a C5. The C4 cabin was tighter around you and not as roomy as the C5. I found that my C5 handled as well and actually stopped better. However, I think the LT4 with the performance Axle would have taken the C5 in a 1/4 mile and...

    Non Run Flats Your Experience???

non-runflat tires I was toying with the idea of purchasing a new set of non runflat tires and then I had a sudden explosive flat on my left front tire at around 60. I ran over a piece of metal that I didn't see and it punched a hole in the side of the tire. I don't know if you have ever had a...

Warning! Got a royal Screwing from Eckler's

Paper is better than email The trouble with email is it's just a key press away from being deleted. A paper based letter sent in email forms a record of communication and date. Some companies react different to paper mail complaints because it stands as proof of the problem.

    2001 Bowling Green Coupe owners

Dark Bowling Green Metalic The Dark Bowling Green Metalic was only offered in 2000 and 2001. There were only 1663 in 2000 and 919 in 2001. Definately a rare color and after 10 years, who knows how many are left.

    New tire selection

I have been told that the tire sealer will destroy the air pressure sensors in the tire. Can anyone confirm if this is true? :confused

    Question: Billy Boat PRT

I would say to Johnny and others in a similar situation, I have known many who sold the Vette to raise kids and regretted it. If you can handle the cost, keep the Vette as a second car, store it, do what you can to hang on to it. It's no accident that so many guys later in life spend a lot of...

    Question: Billy Boat PRT

When I bought my 2000 it had a new set of Billy Boat Bullets on it and I took them off. They sat in my garage for over three years and a week ago, I dug them out and put them back on. They are a little loud but it makes the car more fun to drive. Also, at cruise they are quiet. I would take him...

    C4 vs C5 performance

C4 vs C5 I had a 96 LT4 and now have a 2000 C5 with HP around 345. But the LT4 was under reported by Chev and actual HP ranges as high as 390 on a dyno. I don't know about the C5 or 6 years rated above 400 hp but I believe my 96 LT4 would have beaten my 2000 in a race. As to the wave, I think...

Run Flats - Are you still using them?

Like several others here, I had a sudden loss of tire pressure on the left front run-flat at 65 (ran over something that punched a 1 inch hole in the tire). I got the notice of loss of tire pressure but had no change in handling. I reduced speed and drove home 20 miles and then to the tire shop...

    Storage Questions

Until this year, I used my corvette as a daily driver. With the mileage building, I bought a Honda Accord to take the daily abuse and saved the Vette for fun. So this is the first winter in the gagage. I take the Vette out on nice days but they have not been frequent enough this winter to keep...

    Seat Rails/Tracks

The seats can feel a little loose. My driver's seat has a slight rock backward when I accelerate. Most of the time I don't notice it. However, I believe there is a recall to fix that. Check out this link to the Knowledgebase. I don't know anyone that had this fixed so I can't say if this fully...

NOS GM Factory Z06 Tire Inflator Kit

I second your belief in the Run Flat tires. I had an instant flat at 65 on the left front tire when I ran over something metal that punched an inch size hole in the tire. I never lost any steering capability and was able to drive another 20 miles to get to a tire shop. I had to replace the tire...

Driving That C5 In The Snow?

My problem has been when the snow is too deep for the low clearance of the Vette. I had the problem with both a C4 and a C5. I'm always afraid that ice ball I hit took out something important. There is not much room under there and when I get home to find the snow plow has been buy and put a...

Driving That C5 In The Snow?

I'm with you on not trying to drive in the snow. My C4 was a daily driver and I got caught a few times at work when it snowed. It was a very stressful drive home. I keep the C5 in the garage and let it out on dry days only.
