    O.T. Turbo 400 question.

;helpSorry about the off topic but I can't think of a better place for GM tech info. My tow rig is an 89 R3500 4 dr dually, 454 t400 tranny. The trans has a fixed yoke on the output. I've been told that the slip yoke trannys can be converted to fixed yoke simply by unbolting the fixed yoke and...

    Another wheel question

Thanks for all of the input everyone. It sounds like I'll be calling AFS next week.

    Another wheel question

Due to 3 bent and one cracked wheel on my recent acquistion I am in the wheel market. I have searched the archives and haven't found the definitive answer to my question. Will the 11" ZR1 styled wheel fit underneath the rear fenders as nicely as the stock 9.5" wheel if I use the 50mm wheel...

    Rear Shock confusion.

Thanks guys, exactly as you stated. After applying some liquid wrench they came right off. Thanks again.

    Rear Shock confusion.

I bought a set of shocks from TPIS a few weeks ago, went out to install them the past weekend and when I moved to the rear I noticed the shocks on the car use a different upper mount than the new shocks. The new shocks are a single upright stud, the old shocks appear to have a flat plate at the...

    Suspension Cad Drawings.

Anybody have them? I'm trying to emulate (nice word for plagiarize, copy, etc.) the front suspension of the C4's into my SCCA Prepared category Autocross car. It's a brand "F" ponycar that appears to have similar framerail widths to my '92 Vette. I figured why not copy the suspension design...

    4L60E replacements

I'm in a position where I will soon need to replace or rebuild the tranny in my '92. As the title states it's a 4L60E (I'm pretty sure :confused). I have talked to a couple of the local shops and they are both pretty much the same price at $1700 and $1800 each. I have seen several rebuilders...

    AC Outlet Temps

59 degrees moving down the road at 60 mph or sitting in the driveway. That's what bugs me the most. I would have figured I'd see at least another 5-10 degree drop motoring down the road. I'm taking these measurements from the center vent with an analog and a digital thermometer and they both...

    AC Outlet Temps

I've been working on the AC in my '92 pretty much all weekend and am not satisfied with the results. I've replaced the orifice tube, vac'ed the system down to 30" for 6 hours and added about 26 ounces of 134. Everything seems to be working but in an outside air temp of 94 degrees, humidity...

*HELP* cooling fan wont come on

If you haven't already found a solution. . . . . . My '92 was doing the same thing. There is a fuse labeled "Gauges" that feeds the fans. The fuse was good but there was some corrosion on the blades of the fuse. I replaced the fuse and all is good. Like I said, this is related to a '92...

    Early '92 ALDL Pin layout.

Thanks for the quick response. I have found a few other discrepancies in the prelim service manual I have. I have been cross checking with a chiltons but of course you know if we need more than a firing order it isn't much help. Frank Murphy

    Early '92 ALDL Pin layout.

Can anybody provide me with a directory of what each ALDL pin is for. I'm trying to troubleshoot a cooling fan issue but my preliminary Service manual pin layout does not show a pin for the cooling fans. When I short A-B I get the air pump to come on as well as of course the flashing engine...

    Coolant fans diagnostic.

I'm currently troubleshooting the non-running coolant fans on my '92 LT1. They are not turning on at the prescribed temps. The fans work when I hotwire them so I know they are not at fault. A previous owner had "hotwired" the coolant fans to run whenever the interior fan is turned on. Looking...

    92 LT1 Water pump, anybody using is one??(ASC WP9000)

Crazy, I put this pump on my '92 last month. I probably haven't put 100 miles on it since installation but it seems to be a quality piece. I've purchased other lifetime parts from Advance Auto and they have always followed thru on the warranty. Hope this helps. FM, Indy

    Distributor cap replacement, 92 LT1

Thanks rrubel I'll give that a shot! And thanks plrx787 for the heads up on the rubbing t-connector. When I started this project I was under the impression that the opti was a sealed unit. When I found the corvette fever article and discovered the seperate cap and rotor I know had to force...

    Distributor cap replacement, 92 LT1

Maybe on every other 92 LT1 in existence but not mine. I've got the new distributor sitting on my desk and the new cap and rotor are due in the morning. Now if I can just find a nut driver to fit those itty bitty bolts in the distributor cap.

    Distributor cap replacement, 92 LT1

I am in the process of replacing my opti spark and was wondering if anybody knows what size socket the 4 bolts that hold it on are? Part two; please reinforce my opinion that it would be stupid to go to all the trouble of replacing the opti without replacing the cap and rotor. TIA, Frank in Indy
