about two years ago my started pooped, so i replaced it. then about 4 months later it wouldn't mesh with the flex plate, so i replaced it again. later i had issues again and ended up having a shop replace the flex plate and starter. this was in feb.

be careful when smacking around the shock mount. the shop that did my diff. rebuild busted the one tounge on the support holder. damn, i forget the technical name
i agree on teh gas thing...no need to throw premium at a motor with 8.5ish compression
just wasting money.
good luck on the tranny. you put an OD in with those 2.87 and that thing is gonna love the highway.
make sure the rubber hoses and calipars are in good shape. my pedal was soft as well. after replacing front calipars and hoses all around, it now brakes like a champ.

daily driven 81 here. Its not a big block, but its also got no AC. I wouldn't have it any other day. Only time it sucks is when its hot and it rains. Otherwise, the heat only bugs me at stop lights.
I've also learned to fold the seats down when parked to help on seat temps on entry.
