I installed a new alternator and now the battery light and the choke light are on when the engine is running. If I rev it up some the choke light goes out, and if I take it up to 4000 rpm or more the battery light gets dimmer but never really goes out. The alternator seems to be charging fine...
Cans of r-12 can be found on ebay for less than $20 for a 12b ounce can.
Since I still have pressure in my system after having the car for over 5 years, I dont think leaking is that much of a problem, and I doubt I need a full three pounds of r-12.
I realize that having a pro do it is a better...
My 80 vette still has some pressure in the a/c system, but I guess it needs more R-12. If I get some R-12, can I just add it to the system, or do I need to get gauges and fittings and vacuum it all out and then pump it in some how? I see small cans of R-12 on Ebay, can you just plug them into...
Thanks guys, went to corvetteamerica.com and they had a picture of the header molding, that's exactly what I need. 50 bucks for a piece of plastic :r but what can you do, it's a corvette ;shrug
The plastic piece that covers the top of the windshield frame on the inside of the car is cracked, and I can't find anyplace that sells it. The only parts I can find are the plastic covers that run up the sides of the frame, but not the top piece. Any ideas where to look?
Thanks, that's what I was wondering about. I also thought that dielectric grease might do the trick, but I'm really thinking that the silicone caulk is the way to go, it shouldn't hurt the plastic and it should dampen vibration as well.
Yeah, I'm upsizing some of the loose screws as well.
I stopped at the local Car Quest today and asked them for Silicone grease, and they didn't have any or really know what I was talking about. They showed me silicone spray instead, not what I want.
So I was thinking of maybe using a little...
Good suggestions. I do need to replace a couple screws, and I definitely have noise from the A-pillar trim. I'll try the silicone grease and the rubber inserts.
I was wondering if anyone knew of anything to quiet the interior squeaks in these things? I was thinking of some kind of spray lube around the joints where trim and panels meet, I tried squirting some Armorall, which helped some for a while, but didn't last that long. Any ideas?
It's basically a thin bar of metal with a hook at each end. You slide the hook under the molding, slide it along the molding until you feel a D-clip. Then you pull, (or push, can't remember), until you feel a click. I think there are about 10 or so clips under there. Be careful not to break...
That's what I was thinking, but it looks like it's where it's supposed to be. Kind of hard to see with the wheel hub in the way :( But it looks as if the lever is in the grooves in the shoes. Maybe it is the cable that's hanging up, but as I remember it felt loose. I'll have to double check...
I'd remove the molding first, too easy to mess up your paint if you don't. It's not that hard to get off, with the right tool. Just be careful with the plastic clips, you don't want to break them. After it's off, I'd use some paint stripper, less chance of scraping the crome. The paint is...
Just replaced the upper spring on the right side parking brake shoes. I noticed that the top of the shoes don't sit against the brake bolt in the middle, are they supposed to? As you can see in this picture, the shoe on the right isn't making contact with the bolt, if I tap on it I can get it...
Thanks for the info. I just hate to take my car to others, but I guess I'll have to for this one. There isn't a cheap pressure gauge that I can slap on there, like a tire gauge only bigger?
