It seems my key no longer resets this......I now have to disconnect the negative battery connection to reset the system.

Does this sound right....could the chip on the key be bad?

This is real pain everytime I try and open the door this gos off and does not allow my car to start?

Any suggestions or is it the key?

It may be the key or the sensor in the ign lock. Do you have a bunch of keys on the ring with the key with the chip in it? An amount of keys hanging on any ign key in the lock causes accelerated wear going over bumps on the road. I would try your other key first if you have one otherwise you will have to get a new one.

Yes I have a ton of keys on the ring and they are very heavy. I should have known better!

Thanks.

If you're talking about the alarm going off when you open the door, try using the passenger door to disarm the alarm.

If that works, the driverside door key cylinder is bad. On the back of the key cylinder is a mechanical lever that supplys a ground to the alarm when you turn the key. That is what deactivates the alarm.

Notice the door key has no key pellet.
