All 4L60E's are the same as far as hard parts go goes.The Vette one has different calibrations; shift points ,etc.
You could use any trans but have to swap over the tailshaft housing as that is unique to a C4 because it has the mount for the C beam on it .Some have had to trim 3/4" off the output shaft because the Vette trans has shorter shaft
If the output shaft is a different length on a Y-car 4L60E, then the statement above about hard parts all being the same is incorrect.
I'll also hazard a guess that a 4L60E used in a later C4 may not have the same "hard parts" in it as a 4L60E used in a four-cylinder, 2WD S10 pickup. Again, I'm guessing and what we really need is "Vetteoz" to give us a few more facts that support the statement that the guts of 4L60E's are all the same.
