I WANT TO CHANGE MY C5 A4 TRANSMISION TO 6M ...

IS THAT MODIFID WILL GIVE ME MORE SPEED IN 1/4 M.???

AND WHICH THE BEST FOR MORE SPEED :????

* A4 WITH 3.42 DEF.
OR
* M 6 SPEED

Get the preformance gears and chance the converter.

man oh man, just buy a new car before you attempt the a4 to m6 conversion. i read somewhere a few months ago where someone had priced this conversion and it was almost $10,000 .
I am serious, if you really want m6 buy a new car. besides, all the info i have seen says that the a4 is as fast, or faster than the m6. if you are a pro driver and are really good with shift points then you may outrun an a4, but not likely.
as someone else just add a shift kit to your a4 for a few hundred.

If you want drag racing type ultimate performance throw in a Yank convertor and gears..I'd recommend a Yank 3500 (around 900) and 3:73 gears (1600) figure 500 in labor and another 500 for them to use LS1edit to properly set the shift points.

Throw in a set of headers and maybe a cam for another 3 grand installed.

You should be good to beat them at the dragstrip..12.2 @ 117mph as a guess.

FRom a roll on the street...at 40mph..it will be tough..the A4 is hard put to run as hard as a stick shift driven well.

I had an A4 99 C5 running basically light mods... cold air intake, cat back exhaust, pcm upgrade..doing 12.88 @ 109,44 and the car had more in it..

Sold it though because I wanted the roll on performance on the street more than drag strip type..

Cost me around 11-13 grand to sell my 24K mile 1999 A4 for a 2001 ZO6 M6 with 3K miles on it.

It may not be a drag racing king but it sure is a fun ride.

The A4 sure was consistantly perfect though...

Decide where you want the performance..from a standing start 1/4 mile.. run..then do gears/convertors..

or if you want roll on performance? then think about a stick shift.

No wrong answer just different priorities.
