Any other vette enthusiasts live in your neighborhood?

The neighborhood...

:w
I've got a neighbor down the road who owns a C4 (torch red '96 coupe) he bought new. It's not his daily driver but I see him out in it once in awhile. We don't talk often, just don't run in the same circles, but we always wave. I saw his daughter not long ago and she told me her daddy was going to be mad I got a C5 before him. :D

The weather here is mild enough that folks can drive their babies year 'round, so I see lots of C3s, C4s and C5s. I've even seen the occasional C1 and C2. Some folks wave, some don't. I usually consider traffic to be the reason they didn't wave and sometimes it probably is. I always wave if I see them, and I've only had 2 occasions that someone looked right at me, saw me wave, and then turned away refusing to wave. :mad Thought it was pretty rude, but I figure what goes around comes around.

The great thing around here is "Cruisin' The Coast" in October. You can see every kind of Vette in the world, along with every other kind of antique, vintage, classic or HotRod imagineable. http://www.cruisinthecoast.com

Of loners and vette owners

The majority of Vettes I pass on the road do wave back with their index and center fingers together. (the secret Vette Wave) :w

The Harley-Davidson crowd is the only other group that seems to acknowledge one another with a wave.
Speaking of being a loner I'm called that often but go out of my way to acknowledge other vette owners... or used to anyway. There's one C5 in my neighborhood. The owner wouldn't wave if you flagged him down. Not too many down south side of Austin do.

I can relate to the motor scooter comment though. When I had one years ago I always got waves. Back then it was commonly a raised clenched fist in the air, like proclaiming "motor (cycle) power" as the two cyclers passed. Kinda fun thinkin' about it so many years ago. :)

Maybe the Vettes don't get waves, but I was amazed the first time I drove my truck through Texas; every truck that I passed, going the other way, waved at me. It's usually the hand on the steering wheel, with just a flick of the fingers up as you go by, but it's a wave nonetheless. :w

It was a natural thing for me to wave back, since I rode bikes, and other bikers always wave at each other. At least they used to.

Yep Ken.

We bikers still wave. At least those of us that don't think we're too cool.:L
