I agree with Beatershark. JCWhitney parts don't belong on a corvette. JMHO.;shrug
But it's ok to put Auto Zone,Checker rotors, calipers etc. etc. etc. on a Vette huh ? :eyerole

Robin,

I think the pipes look good at a fraction of the cost of the Hookers. That's the beauty of this hobby, to each their own. Thats why there are different suppliers at different price points. The same arguments get made about stereos, carbs, etc.

Speaking of sidepipes, did any one see the VBP add in this months Corvette Enthusisiast with Killer (69MyWay's car) at the top. That car is just unbelievable.

i guess all my swap meet, ebay and free parts are junk? i shouldn't have repainted my interior ,instead replaced it with new. the stripe i put on myself ,in my garage ,isn't as good as going to the top dawg painter.
looks to me, that this is not about what we create and do to the vehicles. nope,it's about the cash spent.

and yes, i have bought alot of brake parts for all my vehicles at autozone. haven't had a failure ,don't expect any

Bob,yes i saw the ad and was very happy for Chris. the car is even more awesome up close. plus Mr69myway is a reflection of his corvette.awesome too.

Robin, I'm not knocking your car . I've had JC parts in the past and dont think they measure up. Just my opinion. Good luck with it.:beer

To tell the truth Robin Im offended now by your underestimation of my thread topics!!! LOL Thank you for that pic. Thats all the motivation I needed. Those pipes are mine. IMO your car looks more than awesome w/ those on and everyone else wouldve been "Hey great side pipes where did you get them!? They look great on a 74." had you posted it in another thread. Theres probably not a single person in San Antonio that would be able to tell if they hooked up to the real primary tubes or not w/o putting it on a stand since its 1in from the ground anyways. Even if someone did Id say hey let me see your corvette.;LOL<me them>:cry

I doubt now that the perfomance difference is enough for me to want to throw another Grand at it just for maybe +5HP. If i ever become unhappy then Ill swap something else. This suckers mine for life (fingers crossed, knocking on wood)!

Man those are going to look Great on fire!;)

I don`t think they look bad at all when fitted, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference from a couple of yards away. Some people run their Vettes on a limited budget and imho good luck to them. I have bought bit`s for mine from all over, both in the UK and US, and to be honest I have had some genuine GM parts and well known brands that were junk as well and are still lying in my garage unused. I should also mention that I have a pair of these in my garage as well. I fitted one to see what it would look like and havn`t got round to finishing it off yet but they weren`t bad. The diameter of the main open tube is to small for my engine so I have to work on something else but it was one of those impulse buys that I never really checked out before hand.

Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

i guess i won't be parking my low-budget corvette near you folks, cause you'll be laughing and pointing at my car
It is not a matter of "low-budget" for me. My car is chock full of Ebay parts, "incorrect" parts and aftermarket parts. However, I am a functional kind of guy. If it does not ad functionality, I don't put it on my car. Just my opinion, what I like. If it works for you go for it. No problem.

Sky, we can hang together and compare ebay stories. i wouldn't have the car as far along if it weren't for ebay..

Well I did the JC.Whitney thing too....And you know what? It sounds good, looks good, and lo and behold runs good!! BTW I diddnt cheap out lol!!

you gotta throw some pics then!!! What exhaust setup did you have before?

Fridays pay day sucka. Its on! unless my co. tries to rob me again.....

sidepipes

Hi everybody!!!!Reading this trend it seems the JCW,pipes are taking a beatin just because of the brand;well I gotta tell ya. I bought the same pipes (3-dummies,1 tru) from SUMMIT racing, for $220;does that make it better?By the way they, they look great.sound even better, and unless ya get on your knees, you could never tell.

Don't some people run sidepipes with the stock manafoild? That would be only one tube comming out. That don't look bad.Someone made mention of stingray badges.I have never understood this.the 68 was a stingray but with no badges, then the 69 thru what 77 had stingray badges. Then GM dropped them.I still say ALL c3's are stingrays. It's not like it was a trim option or a performance option. It was just a badge. If you want one on your C3 have at.It's all good.I'm thinking of putting them on my 82.

Don't like them. Phoney is Phoney.

Get the real deal. Leave the Phoney crap to the ricers.

Yes, some people run side piples from stock manifolds. They happened to come from the factory that way and there aren't 3 dummy pipes on them

IMHO. :gap

hedman makes sidepipe headers that aren't that expensive:

That's what I wanted to use w/my factory covers and run a 3" pipe. However, Hedman's BB headers won't work with aluminum heads, I checked. It's in the small print too. I remember something about the shape of the aluminum head exhaust port not matching up perfectly with their pipes.

Would have been a sweet setup. Stahl's got a nice set too but
mucho-dinero.

Didn't know that..sure bites. Yeah, Jere Stahl's stuff is expensive but quality always is. I'm planning on building my own BBC headers just need to locate some stainless flanges or have them cut w/ a water jet (after I model the flanges and for that I need the exact dimensions :) )

Hey twin turbo, what kind of exhaust is on the vette in your sig? Is that just a normal exaust exiting nascar style?

Hey it's your car. If you like it nevermind what anyone else likes. Obviously you have the original air in the tires.....
