Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2017 Coverage

Friday Corvettes

Lot# 953 A track car from the Bondurant school would be a fun car to have in the garage. I rode in one of these with a Bondurant instructor a few years ago and it was awesome. This 2013 sold for $29,700.

Lot# 962

Another Corvette Bronze 1968. This one equipped with a 427/390 and all of the important documentation. The hammer price was $52,800. which includes the buyer's commissions. Most of the prices I list are with commissions which would explain why they are higher than what you saw the car hammer for on TV, if you were watching.

So many of the early 1963 Corvettes I saw on the road and the first ones in the showrooms seemed to be Saddle Tan in and out. Chevy must have been pushing that color to the dealers. The first one at the local dealer was a 300 horse coupe in Saddle Tan. I about went nuts when I first saw it. This nice example of a Saddle Tan Split Window with a 340 horse engine and added knock off wheels brought $88,000.

Dang that is a pretty, sexy car.

Lot#979

This 1956 just screams 50s. It was listed as having a rare power top when, in fact, all early '56s from the beginning of production had them. Final tally was 2682 with power top and 785 without of the 3467 total Corvettes built that year. Power top, and dual quads was a pretty common combination in 1956. 3080 of the 3467 production were equipped with the dual quad carburetion and they were split close to 50/50 between Powerglide and manual transmissions. This sweet Corvette with dual quads, power top and Powerglide hammered for $67,100.

Lot# 1063

If you are old enough to have been around in the '60s you will remember when every noted custom shop was doing something wild to the new 1963 Corvette coupe. This Split Window was customized from a brand new car with only 100 miles on it by Ray Farhner of Kansas City. I remember it from Rod & Custom magazine. I still have that issue with several customized 1963 Corvettes featured. Selling price was $68,200.

1964 Corvettes usually don't bring the big money unless they are a top quality resto-mod like this one, of course. The hammer fell at $143,000.

They are calling this a 1964 but it is clearly a Split Window. The big story here is the short stack EFI small block. Beautiful! Bought for $136,400.
