Caught for words Barry?;) . I'll bet you can't wait until tomorrow morning to start getting into it, it sounds like you're finally writing the last page in the painting chapter of your journal and will soon be starting the next chapter titled..... "With my BABY 24/7 and there's still not enough hours in a day!"

We will be so happy for you when you can't get time on the CAC because you're out cruising too much! That grin is getting mighty big!:D :lou

Don't forget the pics now Barry!

Andy, I appreciate it but I don't want to interfere with work and making money. That's a priority! I just was asking on the off chance you may not have been working and was available.
Since i'm not working I sometimes forget most everyone else usually is. :(

Doug

i'll still find plenty of time to be a bother to everyone on here ;LOL
During the day this time of year it's too damn hot to be driving her without A/C but in the evenings is a whole other story............ :D

Barry,

Are the repo windshield mouldings a little off from the original ones or is the seal too fat? It seems like everyone is having problems with this. I had a new seal put in my '67 coupe many moons ago by the local glass shop. I dropped it off in the morning with a new GM seal from the Chevy dealer and they called me in a couple hours telling me it was ready to go. Everything fit like new and I never had any problem with it. Makes me wonder if the repro parts are not exact in some specs.

Tom

Tom, I don't know yet.
he put the new gasket on the windshield but hasn't put the glass on the car yet. At this point what he has done is put in the new clip I got and is test fitting the trim molding to make sure it's going to fit ok and snap on the clips ok first. after he gets that fitting fine than we get to try it all over again with the windshield in place.

One thing that's concerning us is that part of the bodywork he had to do on the car was build up the fiberglass on a few places around the windshield because it had been sanded down too far during previous repairs and/or previous paint jobs. He was checking to get the height rebuilt correctly while he was fiberglassing it with the old trim moldings. He kept putting them on to check, removing to fiberglass more, putting them on again to check, fiberglassing, etc. But now with the new trim pieces and/or the new clips a few places are not sitting down as flush as they should be. He has to get this worked out first before we attempt to try it all over again with the glass in place and i'm sure that will cause it's own set of problems...........

According to Bob, Mark, and most everyone else I've heard comment on this board, REPRO SUCKS! the problem is that when I got these new trim moldings from Paragon, they did also have a nuimber of the pieces in NOS stock but at around 2-3 times the cost and I couldn't afford the NOS pieces so now we may suffer during the reassembly because of that.

Barry...where is this guy located?..Let me know..I have 1/2 day Friday and set my own hours anyway...what time are u gonna be their? My son Alex may even come to help and take some PICS.

Barry,
Do you still have original trim pieces? Mine were polished by the paint shop and went on with no problem.

andy

he is hard to find although i could try to give you directions.
if you really want to come for a bit, give me a call here at home. you should have the number in the CCND list or else i'll PM you with it. from where you are, you could meet me at the house and come with me or follow me over.

I plan on being there from about 9am to 12 or 1pm

Paul

yes, i still have the original trim pieces but i bought the new ones because the old ones were bent from previous removals and reinstalls. plus it looks like they used a hammer to get them on at least once and flattened a few places on them. if it wasn't for the flat areas and dents i would have just had them polished up. now that the new paint will look so good I think the old ones would stick out like a sore thumb if we tried to use them

I spent the day looking for high-efficiency home gas furnaces. Those suckers are not cheap! Recommendations from Members would be appreciated. Of course this is O/T but what the heck. There are some pretty savvy people here on many topics.

Barry,
Look forward to those pics! My 1967 hasn't moved since last weekend because of the heat. But I am sure that that will not deter you!

yes it will Paul. This time of year I try to avoid going out in the car during the day but evenings are playtime! :)

i really need to add A/C to that car when the budget allows.

I have a few friends in the Club who know how to put Vintage Air in. The usual cost of a few cool ones and a pizza. But I'm burned out on the Corvette budget this year after the paint. New/old house, etc. coming on. Believe it or not the cost of asphalt roofing shingles has gone sky-high with the cost of all petroleum-based products. So much so they are in short supply. My August should be an interesting month what with moving.

Sorry I can't see you folks at Carlisle!

Barry,
I'm looking forward to your pics...soon.

Made some progress on Baby today. I was at the shop from 9am until about 2pm. While there we got the rear bumpers and taillights installed and finished up on the headlight buckets. We got the windshield installed and the interior all cleaned up so the rest of the interior could get reinstalled. The last thing we did while I was there was I installed the new real blower motor cable I bought since the old one was frozen up and never worked since i bought the car. After installing the new cable it still didn't want to move and turn on the blower motor but I knew the cable was fine so we checked the switch itself. It was very, very stiff so we removed it, sprayed in some penetrating fluid and worked it for a while until it loosened up and reinstalled it. Works great now. :)
My painter said he will probably come in for a few hours tomorrow and do some more work on the car. The paint booth is still getting painted but will be finished today so the hood goes in for paint on Mon and wetsanded and buffed on Tuesday. Than the hood goes back on the car and he is going to go over the car with the buffer one more time.
We are almost there and by next weekend Baby should be home in my garage finally. Man, she is going to need a really good detailing to get the engine bay and the underside all cleaned up again but at least she will be home.

A big THANK YOU to a fellow corvette club member and CAC member Andy and his son Alex who stopped by for a little while this morning to help get a lot of the pieces needing to be reinstalled all cleaned up. :beer

Paul. I swear by Lennox. A little pricey but you'll make up for it in fuel savings.
They don't use the chimney. They run 2 4" pvc pipes out the side of the house. No pilot light. HVAC guys in my area say reliability is second to none. :)
