thanks, i'm very pleased how the paint turned out.

Barry, The 65 is looking GREAT! It won't be long and you will be on the road again.

Barry, your car looks great and while it's hard to tell by looking at pictures it really looks like you got the correct shade!

How does the metallic look?

Since Barry is a non-alcohol/ethanol person, I have bought some Welch Grape Juice in his honour. I'm ready!!

hi 67
I sure HOPE it's the correct shade after waiting 7 weeks for PPG to get it mixed correctly!. I think my nightmare is that I show up at Calisle and have people tell me "oh, nice paint, but if that's suppose to be Milano Maroon than it's off".............
The metallic looks correct to me as people have described how it's supposed to be. It's very, very fine grained and not too much of it.

Barry,

On the day you bring her home, we should all raise a glass of something "stiff" to Baby as a toast. :m

9:00 pm on "THE" night? :)

works for me..........as long as it's raining here because if the weather is nice....... I AIN"T GONNA BE HERE. I'll be out driving the car!!!!!!
:gap

Barry,
Actually it is one of my favourite drinks. Before the Canadian wine industry got serious about their products, the Concord grape was a non-alcoholic staple. I won't get into details about my former life but I can say that that I had some influence in research and development that led to Ontario wines being pretty well respected on the international market. Nuff said.

I did the NXT thing today as per Bob. I'm not terribly impressed compared to Zaino.

Have to go now. I will hit the road early tomorrow morning (8:00am) before the Ya-Hoos come out. And the heat of the day makes driving unpleasant.

I made it a point NOT to go over there today so that i'm not bothering him or getting in his way too much. I'll stop by tomorrow to see what's going on. I should be able to tell by tomorrow if the car will be done this week. If he got the hood in the paint booth today that means tomorrow is wetsanding and buffing it so I think we may squeeze the car out this week. If the hood isn't painted yet as he was suppose to do today than I'll have serious doubts about the car getting done before Monday or Tuesday. Other than the hood, there really isn't anything major left to do. Just a lot of little stuff on the reassembly - intall the rear glass, reinstall the interior (door panels, interior molding pieces, seats, side mirror, emblems, gas cap, etc.
Than he still wants to rebuff it one more time than wax it.

Besides the hood painting, as we were cleaning all the interior pieces last Fri in preperation of reinstalling them, he noticed that the interior trim moldings weren't to his satisfaction so he was also talking about respraying them black to make them look really nice. Those pieces have nothing to do with the exterior painting of the car that he's getting paid for, but that's the kind of attention to detail that I really appreciate from him. That may or may not delay getting the car back by an extra day or so but it's been this long already so what's one more lost weekend. Besides, it's been so d*mn hot and unbearably humid here the last 4-5 days that if this heats sticks around I won't be out in the car anyway - without A/C it's just too miserable outside to try to enjoy driving it. I should know better by tomorrow or Thrusday based on progress by than if it's this week or beginning of next week.
At this point i've given up hoping or wishing for any particular day the car will be done. I think I've finally accepted that it will be done someday, but who knows when that day will be. If it's this week than great, if it's next week than so be it. As long as i get the d*mn car back in time for Carlisle.

We've had humidex readings of close to 104F (40C) recently. It is not pleasant to drive (without A/C) in those temps so my car is parked.

I read this morning about the temps in Arizona. That's a pretty brutal state-of-affairs!

update: Wed. 7/20

just got back from the shop. Joe has had a busy last 2 days :)

yesterday he reprimed and sanded the hood for painting. All the interior is back in and complete. All but the top piece and two corner pieces of the windshield molding are on. The top piece is a repro I got from Paragon and it's about an inch too long and doesn't fit right :mad so he waited until I got there today to see what I wanted to do about it. I looked over my original top molding piece and it's in pretty good shape so we are going to use that one instead. I'm lucky there that it wasn't the bottom pieces that fit bad as they were the really bad ones that were originally on the car causing me to order a new set. All the emblems, flags, gas cap cover, side mirror, sidepeipe covers, wheel covers, etc are all installed.
Today he painted the hood with 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear and had just finished the last clear coat when I showed up.
Tomorrow he will wetsand and buff the hood and reinstall it in the morning than reinstall the rear glass. Finally, he wants to give it one last going over with the buffer than wax it and it's done!!
He is going away Fri. afternoon for the weekend so he wants it done and turned over to me tomorrow afternoon. Worst case will be Fri. morning before he leaves if anything delays tomorrows completion.

It's been a longggggg wait but she is almost home........... :D
