"Body Contour Splash Guards"

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,

Anyone, installed the "Body Contour Splash Guards" on their "96 VETTE" as depicted as Part #'s 26903 & 26904 in the Ecklers Catalog on Pg 43 @ $35.99 per pr.? (ZIP & MID AMERICA have them too!)

If so; Did they install quickly, using existing bolts?
After an extended period on the car, was their any paint damage caused by the "Splash Guard" itself? Lines, scratches etc.?
Do they look good?
Do they look as though they came stock with the car, rather than something someone just stuck on there?

I'm using these on my 92 (same fenders as the 96) and I can't complain about the looks. Mine came with additional bolts/screws since that were longer than the stock ones. The picture in MidAmerica's catalog show the extra screws and stuff - and the price is $34.99 per pair there.

These require an additional hole to be drilled in the bottom of the fender for additional support. Otherwise, they will probably vibrate.

I found that I needed to trim some of the plastic is a couple of places on the guards to get a better fit against the rear fender. If I had not trimmed them slightly, they would have dug into the paint when screwed down.

Generally they do a good job of keeping the worse paint damage down. Much better than nothing. Besides, after putting the ZR1 wheels and 315 tires on the rear of my car, I needed something to help in this area as they stick out a little bit.

3m Paint protection

Have you guys seen this?http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-168/czuzlFH/view.jhtml 3m Debuted this at SEMA this year.Its their NEW clear film to protect from rock chips and such.They say it "will not" turn yellow over time.I have had experience with their "erosion boots" for airplanes which is similar to the same thing,works great,but the old stuff did "yellow" over time.Just thought it might be a nice alternative to mud flaps.
