Brake and Carb Help...........

Thanks guys..............I just purchased a new S/S ebrake from Muskegon Brake (good prices and quick ship out), and took the vette to the brake shop to have it installed. This should take care of the brake issues, since the Entire brake system will be new!

You may have to arc the shoes to get them to work well. SS shoes don't fit well. Also, keep in mind, Vette e-brakes sucked when new. Don't expect miracles.:D

adjusting a e4me carb

Recently I had the carb rebuilt twice before it was "right". Both rebuilders did not want to adjust it saying if it was running OK leave it alone. Presently, the carb has developed a hesitation off idle. When I depress the accelerator pump rod, I do not get a squirt of fuel until the rod is depressed about 1/4". Any suggestions?

Back to the orginal question. How does one adjust the carb on the car from start to finish?

Thanks!
Bill

Do you have the Helms GM shop manual, or the quadrajet book by Doug Roe?

First off, if you do not have a good squirt, it's not an adjustment, it is a bad accelerator pump. To completely adjust the carb, you do need the GM shop manual, but if the only problem is the acc. pump, JUST FIX THAT! With the engine off and cold, look through the primary bore of the carb. Pull the accelerator lever all the way back. You should see a strong "squirt gun" like stream in each barrel. If not, take off the air horn and check the pump. The rubber plunger should be new if it was just rebuilt, but also check the plunger rod itself. There are plastic parts on it that can break and cause the problem you describe. If you need to, you can buy a performance pump from Edelbrock at most discount auto parts dealers cheap. You might also check that the passages are clear with compressed air (this also should have been done during the rebuild). God bless, Sensei

I currently do not have an 81 GM shop manual but I am bidding on one on ebay. When I open the accelerator lever, I get a strong shot of fuel after the lever is open a bit, but not
at first. Regarding the performance pump from Edlebrock, does one ask for a pump for a Edelbrock quad or a GM quad?

Thanks
