Bump Steer?

The run-flat tires do indeed make a huge difference! I just replaced my tires with non-run-flat michelin pilot sports (i don't recommend them because now that I see them on my car I don't like the way they look). But they absorb the bumps in the road (but you can still feel them like you should) and the car doesn't walk near as bad as it used to.

herbie,
The part numbers attachment came through and I was able to download them and save. Thanks. Good job!

Vettepilot, glad you got them. I did notice that all the springs, bushings, shocks etc were all listed. You were right, the springs are stiffer. The shocks are larger. I wonder if I should use the Z-51 shocks or go with Bilsteins. What do you think? Also, I noticed in a different thread that C4specialist say's to go with the Z-06 end links? What'sthe best combination ? I will do a little more fishin around, see if I can come up with the part numbers and post them on this thread.........

Okay, everybody, here is the deal. The end links on the 2002 Z-06 are indeed different that the Z-51's. On the Z-51 you get two plastic and two metal. On the 2002 Z-06 end links they are all metal and you don't need a TX-40(torx) to get them out or in.
The part number for the 2002 is 10435298, and they are all the same front and rear. So I think I will go with the Z-51 bars and the 2002 end links. Will let you know how it works out...

I have experienced what I call tracking which seems to be what you describe. With the tires as wide as they are I never noticed the inside of the left front tire was wearing. It's an alignment thing. Unfortunately you usually notice this when the tire is shot and you need a new one. I got a used tire in good shape and had the front end re-aligned and the problem went away.

I personally think EMTs get a bad rap because some people think it's cool to slam them. I replaced my EMTs with Nitto 555 primarily because they were cheaper and I read many good thing about them. I've had them for about a year and they have two open road races, three driving school sessions and a drag race on them. Still have plenty of tread. Oh yeah and I have 47K miles on the car, about 10K on the tires.

BA2, Thanks for your reply. You know, just yesterday I got an alignment, and it still happens. It follows ruts and creases in the road and you have to hold on to the steering wheel and fight it off. Damn annoying.Seems like Torchy 2000 had the same problem and it went away with new tires. He bought the same tires, just non-runflat. I will probably do the same thing and see how that works out. Some of the other guys have had it happen too. After what you said I went out and looked at the tires and.....! you are right, uneven wear! Going to get some new tires.......will let everone know if this is the reason......

hcolon,

Your car will still track until you put tires on that are not warn unevenly. Any even treaded tire will put you straignt. Of course, new tires work best. If you were close, I have a spare set of 98 tires and EMTs you could try.

BA2, thanks! I am going to go with 4 brand new ones, so I can track the progress from the very beginning. You see, I bought this car pre-owned with 15,500 miles on it. What I will do is probably sell off the run-flats....
