Two questions:

The 1967 A.I.M. (page A31 - A1) includes the following...

NOTE: Plug connector (part of 1) into fuse panel receptacle marked ACC. FUSED.
:confused

1. There are two other connecting points on the fuse panel marked POWER WINDOWS. Why are we not plugging the 12-RED wire into one of those instead of the ACC.?

2. What do the CIRCLED numbers on this page mean? They go from passenger side to driver's.... 23.50, 8.0, 25.0, 6.80, 5.75, 23.25

Thanks.

just a quick question are you using an exact replacement harness or an aftermarket like painless that might explain the differences. There could also be power for the relays low amp and power for the windows high amp requireing more then one connection to the fuse box.

Hi Craig,

I'm using Lectric Limited exact replacements. The wiring is the same, but I'm curious about why the 1967 Assembly Instruction Manual (from St. Louis) doesn't tell me to plug the single wire into the place marked for Power Windows on the fuse panel. Seems strange.

I can't remember where the original harness was plugged in -- ACC or POWER WINDOW. I took photos of the old harness before I removed it, but I can't make out the connection on the fuse panel.

Bob,

The circled numbers You referenced are grid x-y or datum reference points for locating the clips Check out your AIM, UPC Bolt 1, Sheets C3 & C5.
You should have been able to find the part numbers in the AIM database I sent you.

Don

I think Bob wants to know where to plug the wire for the power windows in the fuse block

Bossvette,
Don actually answered #2 question from my first post. I'm still hoping for an answer to #1. :D

Don,
Thanks for the info and the very interesting package that I looked at over the weekend.

The original fuse block didn't have "Power Windows" on it - the two lower plug-in cavities were both "Acc. Fused", and were fed from a common bus; you could use either one. Don't know if the Lectric Limited fuse block is wired the same way or not.

Now I'm "really" confused. :confused

This is a photo that I took five minutes ago of the original fuse panel. And I mean "original". Early '67 car.

What gives?

OK, mine's a "late" car - mid-June build - they must have revised the lettering on the fuse block from "Power Windows" to "Acc. Fused" as a running change sometime during the year; the last change on the A.I.M. sheet that could have affected it was on 10/31/66. The pad-printed number on the side of yours (8670-C) is the same as mine, but mine sez "Acc. Fused". Another deep, dark mystery; they probably did it just to frustrate future restorers :D

So you're saying that I should sell my tired old brittle harness on eBay for $10,000 as a rare item? :D

you can finance your project that way, someone will buy it;LOL

Rare, origional, early L-88 fuse block one of only 20? made:L

p/w

As long as we're discussing p/w here, I bought a new p/w switch because my current one seems to work whenever it feels like it on the driver's window. The new switch has five plugs (prongs?) on the bottom side. Four are fixed but one of them moves around but doesn't pull through or fall in either. I haven't taken my console apart yet to pull the old switch, but is this normal? Or did I get a bad switch from Zip?
Thanks for the help, guys,

Mine is a late June build and has a fuse block like you're holding and the P/W harness plugs into the terminal right above POWER

Interesting, Ken.

John's is a mid-June car and is different from yours. Mine is a late October/66 car and is the same as your mid-June. :confused

Who said these cars aren't fun? ;LOL

For what it is worth, mine is a March 67 car and the P/W wiring is plugged into the left bottom position above the word "power." I have had the car for 30 years, so I think it is pretty original.
