You've been using that avatar for a long time now. I love it:beer

If anybody should be offended by it, it should be someone with hypothyroidism. That's the condition that causes the eyes bugging out. Marty Feldman had it also and made a career out of it. The Marty Feldman pic probably won't be found offensive since he is not black. It takes all kinds I guess. ;)

Might be a good time to consider one of the slicke ground effects packages.................I understand the donuts on the freway perfectly..........I'm a two time contestant of that game show myself.......so far I haven't won the grand prize.

I thought they were called CH(i)Ps.......in California?? Like Jihn and Ponch........LAMary 5 and LAMary 6.........

Dude, that sux. I hit a ice patch once at 20mph in a 55 and did a 180 and clipped a Honda. I busted my right bumper, but it tore his door up pretty bad. Anyway the cops gave me a ticket for excessive speed during dangerous driving conditions. I went to court and the judge dismissed it.

That's my other issue I find hard to accept. I can't understand someone actually jusitifying driving their Vette in the snow. Lower, or cancel your insurance for the winter, that would pay for your winter beater!! Anyone who can't afford a $500 winter beater shouldn't be driving a Vette anyways, it's just not right... They are not 'all weather' cars, and should be garaged in that weather... So the fact that you wiped out while IN the snow raises that other question for me... Why did you even ALLOW that to happen?? And, are you SURPRISED your car spun out????

Doug

I can't understand

Being in San Deigo, I guess you wouldn't. Get much snow there?

Wow, Settle down guys. People buy SUV's and never turn a tire in the nasty stuff,I guess driving a Vette in the snow equates to that . Makes no sense to me anyway you look at it after all any one looking to buy one would prefer a fair weather vehicle which brings up the investment angle.

Y'all need to calm down...take a break. There will be no finger pointing, no name calling, no flaming and please check the attitude at the door.

This is a forum about technical conversation concerning the Corvette. If you wish to debate the idiosyncrasies related to individual driving habits either good or bad go to the Lounge forum.

I had a similar accident happen some years ago in upstate New York. Had to have a DOE truck pull me out of a snow bank. Just as I was able to get going again a State trooper pulls up and motions me to come into his car. He was very polite and asked me how I was feeling and what happened. He then pulls out his ticket book. I asked, “Is that necessary.” His reply. “ The accident makes an impression the ticket makes it indelible.”

Be thankfull the damage was only to the car.

THIS is uncalled for. I do not allow flaming in these forums.

Ditch the attitudes and smart-ass remarks.

The guy chooses to drive his Vette in the snow - so be it. It's his business and it isn't YOUR place to pass judgement on him for it.

Did you ever stop to think that MAYBE he can only afford a Corvette as his only means of transportation?

Regardless - grow up and stop acting like a bunch of two year olds.

Driving my Vette in the snow

Just to clear it up for those who have a problem with it.

1) I do have 2 vehicles and 1 is an SUV. This is my wife's vehicle for the most part.

2) I am NOT surprised it happened. I reviewed what I posted and nowhere did it indicate I was surprised.

3) I have been driving it all year round for 3 years and this is the first incident of ANY kind I have had.

4) Make NO assumptions about what I can afford. I buy what I choose to buy and I drive my Vette where and when I want. I don't hide it in the garage at the slightest hint of a cloud in the sky. MY choice, no one elses.

5) mynewc5, my insurance is very low already. Canceling my insurance for the winter would do nothing. You make a lot of assumptions but that doesn't surprise me. You can't justify driving a Vette in the snow? WHO CARES? I am looking into another vehicle for the snow but that doesn't mean the Vette isn't going to be out all year 'round.

Save your assumptions and judgements for the victims you pull over on the highway.

Hey, I drive ZR-1 in snow. Don't misunderstand. I take great care of it: Mechanical and cosmetic. But like you said, I bought it to enjoy it and its a car.
Is'nt ASR great??? My 91 ZR-1 would refuse to move on anyting more than 2" of snow. 94 w/ ASR: No problem.

Hmmm, you look amazingly like Marty Feldman.

Wanna see my old wreck? I'm not proud of it but I'm not ashamed of it either. IBottom 4 pics are my ex 91 ZR-1. I was probing the limits and lost it. She went into a oversteer, went sideways for 120 ft or so and caught the light pole w/ driverside rear wheel. I joked to Tim Burke of Burkes Corvette "why does it take you 3 months to reassemble what took me less then 10 seconds to disassemble?"

Very sad to see those pictures, Notslo. :( My heart goes out to you. I would think you could fight the ticket also and win.
Hope your beauty gets back to your home soon.

I really just posted this because my last thread got locked before I could respond to the bashing from others. It's just a car and can get fixed. I am actually very impressed with how well it came through the crash. I drove it home without a hitch. They sure are solid! :)

I reopened the thread and merged the two together...

Glad to hear you're OK. Tough to bend (or break) any car. I've seen Vettes in the boneyards over the years and it's remarkable how tough they really are!
